Position: Plumber

Department: Maintenance / Engineering
Location: Kinder Women’s Hospital & Fertility Centre, Kollam
Reporting To: Maintenance Manager / Engineering Head

Job Summary

The Plumber is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of plumbing systems, fixtures, pipelines, drainage systems, and water-supply systems within the hospital premises, ensuring uninterrupted and safe plumbing operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, maintain, and repair water supply, drainage, and plumbing systems.
- Attend to plumbing breakdowns, leakages, blockages, and other maintenance issues promptly.
- Inspect pipelines, valves, taps, toilets, washbasins, showers, and other plumbing fixtures regularly.
- Carry out preventive maintenance of plumbing systems and equipment.
- Identify and repair water leakage, pipe damage, and drainage problems.
- Install and maintain sanitary fixtures and fittings.
- Handle plumbing work related to new installations, renovations, and modifications.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance/Engineering team during repair and maintenance activities.
- Attend to emergency plumbing complaints and breakdowns on a priority basis.
- Ensure proper functioning of water tanks, pumps, pipelines, valves, and related systems.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety at the worksite after completing plumbing work.
- Follow hospital safety procedures, infection-control requirements, and applicable maintenance protocols.




- Use plumbing tools and equipment safely and responsibly.
- Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs, and materials used.
- Report major plumbing defects and material requirements to the concerned supervisor.
- Ensure minimum disruption to patient-care areas while carrying out maintenance work.
- Perform other maintenance-related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Educational Qualification

- ITI / Diploma in Plumbing or Plumbing Trade from a recognized institution.
- Relevant technical certification in plumbing will be an added advantage.

Experience

- 1–3 years of relevant experience in plumbing and maintenance.
- Experience in a hospital, healthcare facility, hotel, commercial building, or similar organization will be preferred.

- Ability to identify and troubleshoot plumbing problems.
