JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Accounts & Finance Executive – CA Inter
Department: Accounts & Finance
Location: Howrah, West Bengal
Industry: Plastic Recycling & Manufacturing – Plastic Flakes & PET Granules
Reporting To: Head – Accounts & Finance / Finance Manager
Employment Type: Full time
Experience: CA Inter with minimum 3 years of Articleship experience
1. JOB PURPOSE
To manage and support day-to-day accounting, taxation, statutory compliance, audit, financial reporting and other finance-related activities of the manufacturing unit.
The position will be responsible for ensuring accurate accounting records, timely statutory compliance, proper documentation and effective coordination with auditors, consultants, vendors, customers and internal departments.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Handle day-to-day accounting transactions and ensure proper accounting entries.
- Maintain and verify purchase, sales, receipt, payment and journal entries.
- Review ledger accounts and identify accounting discrepancies.
- Perform regular bank reconciliation and vendor/customer reconciliation.
- Maintain proper supporting documents for accounting transactions.
- Assist in monthly, quarterly and annual closing of books.
- Assist in preparation of Trial Balance, Profit & Loss Account and Balance Sheet.
- Verify outstanding receivables and payables.
- Monitor advances, expenses and other balance-sheet items.
- Ensure proper accounting classification and documentation.
B. GST & Indirect Tax Compliance
- Assist in preparation and filing of GST returns.
- Review GST input tax credit and reconcile purchase records with applicable GST data.
- Assist in GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B preparation.
- Perform GST reconciliation and identify mismatches.
- Verify GST applicability on purchase and sales transactions.
- Coordinate with GST consultants for notices, assessments and other matters.
- Maintain proper GST-related records and supporting documents.
C. TDS & Direct Taxation
- Calculate and verify TDS deductions.
- Assist in timely filing of TDS returns.
- Verify TDS ledgers and reconcile TDS with relevant records.
- Assist in preparation of tax computations and income-tax-related information.
- Coordinate with tax consultants during assessments, audits and other proceedings.
- Maintain proper documentation for tax compliance.
D. Audit
- Coordinate with statutory auditors, internal auditors and tax auditors.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documents.
- Provide required information and explanations to auditors.
- Assist in statutory audit and tax audit activities.
- Follow up on audit observations and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain proper audit working papers and documentation.
E. Manufacturing Accounting
- Coordinate with Production, Purchase, Stores and Sales departments for finance-related information.
- Verify purchase invoices, material receipts and related accounting documents.
- Assist in inventory accounting and reconciliation.
- Monitor stock-related accounting records.
- Assist in manufacturing cost analysis.
- Review consumption, production and material-related financial information.
- Assist in identifying accounting variances and unusual transactions.
F. Accounts Receivable & Payable
- Monitor customer outstanding balances.
- Prepare receivable ageing reports.
- Coordinate with the sales team for collection-related information.
- Verify vendor bills and supporting documents before processing.
- Monitor vendor outstanding balances.
- Perform vendor reconciliation.
- Assist in payment planning and preparation.
G. MIS & Management Reporting
- Prepare regular MIS reports for management.
- Prepare expense, sales, purchase, receivable and payable reports.
- Assist in budget-versus-actual analysis.
- Prepare financial data for management review.
- Identify unusual variations and communicate them to the reporting manager.
H. Internal Control & Compliance
- Ensure accounting transactions are supported by appropriate documents.
- Follow company approval and authorization procedures.
- Assist in strengthening internal financial controls.
- Identify discrepancies, duplicate entries or unusual transactions.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and company information.
I. ERP / Accounting Software
- Work on ERP/accounting software used by the company.
- Ensure timely and accurate posting of transactions.
- Generate accounting reports as required.
- Maintain proper master data and accounting records.
- Support implementation or improvement of accounting processes in ERP.
J. Other Finance Activities
- Assist in preparation of financial statements.
- Support management during statutory inspections and audits.
- Coordinate with external consultants wherever required.
- Maintain proper records for financial and statutory purposes.
- Perform other finance and accounting duties assigned by the reporting manager.
3. ELIGIBILITY
Educational Qualification
Mandatory:
- CA Inter qualified.
Preferred:
- B.Com / M.Com or equivalent qualification.
- Candidates who have completed both groups of CA Intermediate will be preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of CA Articleship experience.
- Practical exposure to accounting, audit and taxation is required.
- Experience with a manufacturing company or manufacturing audit will be an advantage.
Industry Preference
