Key Accountabilities :
Planning and preparing for students’ learning:
- Plan appropriately using knowledge and understanding of The British School Context.
- Keep abreast of contemporary pedagogical approaches and work to implement best practice.
- Possess appropriate content knowledge.
- Have an understanding of students’ needs and abilities and design appropriate learning experiences.
- Identify appropriate learning outcomes for students.
- Plan and implement effective assessment for/of learning which enhances outcomes for students.
Creating an effective learning environment:
- Create a respectful classroom environment.
- Establish an effective rapport with students and colleagues.

- Be responsible for the proper storage and maintenance of musical instruments, classroom equipment and the upkeep of the specialist music rooms.
- Understand and implement the Health and Safety policies of the school and the department to ensure a safe working environment for students and teachers.
- Maintain stock register and do annual stock check ensuring a record of any breakage/resources.
- Liaise with the CL to order equipment and consumables.
- Take cover lesson and break/dispersal/bus duties according to the school policy.
Teaching and learning:
- Communicate clearly.

- Engage and motivate students in their learning.
- Provide feedback to students in a timely and developmental fashion.
- Meet individual needs through effective differentiation.

- Take specialist instrument afternoon activities classes as required.
- Assist selected IGCSE and IB music classes (by providing individialised specialist instructions and accompaniment).
- Attend all department meetings and workshops.
- Contribute towards the development of Curriculum Area.
- Be responsible with a positive attitude for the facilitation of teacher/student requirements for music.
- Take pastoral care responsibilities (become class tutor/co-tutor).
- Participate and contribute to the school events.
- Support audio-video recordings for music exams, festivals and assemblies
