Job Description – OBG Junior Consultant / Duty Medical Officer

Role Overview

We are looking for an MBBS, DNB – Obstetrics & Gynaecology professional to provide comprehensive clinical care to obstetric and gynaecology patients, with responsibilities across the Labour Room, Inpatient, Emergency and related clinical areas.

Key Responsibilities

Cognitive Clinical Management

- Inform the concerned consultant as soon as the patient is admitted.
- Perform and document detailed history and physical examination.
- Formulate differential diagnosis and develop the initial plan of care.
- Follow the Labour Room protocol and checklist.
- Modify and document the daily plan of care as required.
- Write daily progress notes and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
- Obtain and document informed consent.
- Perform pre-operative work-up.
- Order appropriate referrals and investigations.
- Interpret laboratory and radiology reports.
- Interpret haemodynamic parameters in critically ill patients.
- Order blood and blood product transfusions as clinically indicated.
- Order appropriate medications and other clinical interventions.
- Prepare discharge summaries and explain discharge instructions to patients and attendants.
- Maintain the duty register and ensure proper written handover and takeover.




- Complete insurance-related documentation and coordinate for consultant signatures.

Clinical Non-Invasive Management

- Perform pelvic examinations and Pap smear procedures.
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Manage and adjust artificial feeding modalities as clinically indicated.

Clinical Invasive Management

- Perform nasogastric intubation.
- Insert urethral catheters.
- Assist in surgical procedures.
- Perform D&C; and MTP procedures as per applicable regulations, competency and hospital protocols.
- Conduct low-risk and high-risk vaginal deliveries as per clinical competency and hospital protocols.

Eligibility

- MBBS with DNB in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (OBG).
- Valid Tamil Nadu Medical Council (TMC) registration is required.
- Candidates with relevant experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Labour Room and high-risk obstetric care will be preferred.
- Freshers with completed DNB OBG and valid TMC registration are also welcome to apply.
