Position: Maintenance head

Position Summary

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for managing the complete plant engineering function, including mechanical maintenance, utilities, HVAC, electrical systems, engineering documentation, statutory compliance, calibration and liaison activities. The role requires ensuring reliable, safe and productive operation of process equipment and plant utilities with minimum downtime and full documentation compliance.

1. Key Responsibilities

· Lead and manage overall plant engineering, maintenance and utility activities.

· Plan and execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of process and utility equipment.

· Ensure maximum equipment availability, minimum breakdowns and timely restoration of equipment.

· Manage engineering manpower, maintenance planning, spare parts, contractors and service agencies.

· Prepare, review and maintain engineering SOPs, preventive maintenance schedules, checklists, breakdown reports, equipment history and other engineering records.

· Coordinate with Production, QA, EHS, Purchase and other departments for engineering requirements and shutdown activities.

· Handle engineering and statutory inspection/licensing activities.

2. Utility Management

· Operation and maintenance of cooling towers, chillers, boilers, air compressors and associated utility systems.

· Monitor utility performance, operating parameters, energy consumption and preventive maintenance requirements.

· Coordinate utility shutdowns, annual servicing, breakdown rectification and vendor activities.

· Ensure safe and reliable availability of utilities for continuous plant operation.

3. HVAC / AHU





· Operation and maintenance of AHU’s units and associated HVAC systems.

· Monitor temperature, humidity, airflow and other operating parameters as applicable.

· Plan preventive maintenance, filter replacement, servicing and breakdown rectification.

· Maintain HVAC maintenance records and coordinate service agencies.

4. Electrical Engineering

· Maintenance and operation of transformers, APFC panels, electrical operating/control panels, motors, VFDs, solar power systems and plant lighting.

· Coordinate electrical preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.

· Monitor electrical equipment performance, safety and reliability.

· Coordinate annual electrical inspection and rectification of observations.

5. Process Equipment Maintenance

· Maintenance of herbal extraction and process equipment including extractors, distillation units, dryers, blenders, sifters and associated machinery.

· Plan preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance for mechanical equipment.

· Identify recurring failures and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.

· Maintain equipment history, breakdown records, PM records and related engineering documentation.

6. Calibration & Statutory Compliance

· Coordinate annual calibration activities for applicable instruments and measuring equipment.





· Coordinate annual boiler inspection/licensing and ensure required compliance documentation.

· Coordinate annual electrical inspection and closure of observations.

· Maintain statutory, inspection, calibration and compliance records in coordination with concerned departments.

7. Engineering Documentation

· Prepare and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, checklists and records.

· Prepare breakdown reports, corrective action records and equipment history.

· Maintain utility logbooks, maintenance records, service reports and engineering documents.

· Support audits and provide engineering records and evidence as required.

8. Vendor & Contractor Management

· Coordinate with OEMs, contractors and service agencies for maintenance, AMC, servicing and breakdown support.

· Obtain technical quotations, evaluate engineering requirements and coordinate execution.

· Monitor contractor work quality, safety, timelines and completion documentation.

Candidate Profile

· Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 8 – 10 years of experience.

· Relevant experience in plant engineering, maintenance and utilities, preferably in herbal, pharmaceutical, chemical, food or machine manufacturer industries.

· Practical experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance, utilities, HVAC and engineering documentation.

· Knowledge of preventive maintenance, breakdown analysis, statutory compliance and contractor/vendor coordination.

· Ability to lead engineering activities independently and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
