Our client is an established Gujarat-based manufacturer of industrial and special-purpose gearboxes, operating with a technical collaboration with a German company. The company specializes in precision manufacturing of worm gearboxes, planetary gearboxes, servo gearboxes, and customized transmission solutions for industrial applications. They serve diverse sectors including machine tools, automation, and heavy engineering. This role exists to strengthen their quality control function at the factory level, ensuring precision and reliability across their manufacturing operations.

About the Role

In this role, you will own the quality control function across the manufacturing floor, ensuring that every gearbox and component meets the precision standards our client is known for. You will work directly with production teams, conduct process and product audits, analyze defects, and drive continuous improvement initiatives using structured quality tools.

This is a hands-on factory-based position suited to a quality engineer with strong knowledge of gear manufacturing processes, measurement instruments, and quality systems documentation. You will be instrumental in reducing defects, improving process efficiency, and ensuring customer-specific requirements are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct process and product audits across manufacturing lines
- Handle customer complaints and participate in onsite customer visits for quality improvement projects
- Perform red bin analysis and defect stratification using quality tools such as Ishikawa diagrams and Pareto analysis
- Lead root cause analysis of customer-end defects and implement escalated countermeasures
- Ensure adherence to customer-specific requirements (CSR) throughout production
- Analyze major line problems using QC tools and develop actionable improvement plans
- Prepare and maintain reports on Poka-Yoke implementations
- Operate and interpret measurements from instruments such as Vernier calipers and micrometers




- Manage quality documentation including SOP, WI, CP, PPS, Quality Alerts, Time Check, and FPA reports
- Actively participate in New Product Development (NPD) quality activities
- Maintain quality documentation for Process Quality and Pre-Dispatch Inspection as per quality systems requirements (First Part Approval, SPC, Patrol Inspection Reports, MSA, APQP, FMEA, Control Plan)
- Recommend changes to production processes to improve product quality and increase efficiency
- Conduct defect analysis and prepare trouble analysis sheets for internal quality concerns
- Ensure quality control processes are consistently followed by the production team
- Conduct regular inspections to identify defects and implement corrective actions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and improve productivity
- Analyze data from QC tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts to optimize manufacturing processes
- Prepare inward and outward QC reports and maintain records for all BOM parts
- Support vendor development in QC requirements
- Maintain documentation and proper record management
- Maintain instrument list and calibration reports

Required Qualifications

Education: B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (or relevant discipline)

Experience: 3–6 years in Quality Control or a related field within a mechanical engineering environment

Technical Knowledge (Mandatory):

- Gears and gear manufacturing processes
- VMC and CNC machining processes
- Assembly processes
- Hardening processes
- Casting processes
- Tolerances of shafts and gears

Quality Systems Knowledge:

- Quality Control engineering principles, methods, and techniques
- Quality management tools: 5S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, 4M
- Quality tools: 7 QC Tools, CAPA, WHY-WHY Analysis
- 8D Report methodology
- Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)
- Drawing inspection
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)




- Experience working with ERP systems

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in gearbox manufacturing or precision engineering environments
- Exposure to APQP, FMEA, and Control Plan documentation
- Familiarity with customer-specific quality requirements in automotive or industrial sectors
