Role Overview

The Sourcing & Purchasing Manager is responsible for building a resilient, cost-effective, and quality-driven supply chain for Shakuntala Sampling. This individual leads the sourcing of rigid substrates (Kappa/MDF boards), hardware (eyelets, corners, rivets), specialized adhesives (high-tack 3M tapes, cold/hot gums), bookbinding fabrics (buckram), screen-printing consumables, and export-grade packaging.

The ideal candidate blends deep procurement acumen with technical knowledge of printing, packaging substrates, and material behaviors, ensuring zero production downtime through rigorous inventory planning and strict incoming quality verification.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Vendor Management & Category Sourcing

Build and manage a diversified network of qualified, audited suppliers across all key raw material categories:

Rigid Boards: Kappa boards (1.5 mm to 4 mm calipers), MDF boards, grey boards, duplex boards.

Adhesives & Tapes: Cold PVA pasting gums, hot-melt adhesives, solvent-free adhesives, high-tack 3M double-sided tapes, and tissue/film bonding tapes.

Hardware Accessories: Metal/plastic eyelet buttons (ilets), corner protectors (antique, nickel, brass finishes), binding screws, rivets, and sample book handles.

Fabrics & Cover Materials: Bookbinding buckram, specialty coated cover papers, textured vinyls, and spine cloth.

Printing & Consumables: Screen-printing inks (water-based, solvent, plastisol), squeegees, mesh, block-out chemicals, and pre-printed backside swatch labels.

Export Packaging: 5-ply/7-ply heavy-duty corrugated cartons, edge protectors,



moisture-barrier shrink films, and silica gel desiccant packs.

Maintain a validated Secondary Vendor (Backup) for every critical material category to guarantee zero single-source operational risk.

2. BOM Kitting, Lead-Time Governance & Inventory Control

Review Master Job Cards (MJCs) issued by Merchandising to extract BOM requirements and calculate exact material requisitions.

Enforce the All-Parts-In-House (APIH) protocol: ensure 100% of required hardware, adhesives, and substrates are physically received, inspected, and kitted before fabric laying and board cutting are scheduled.

Establish and monitor Min-Max Inventory Levels and automated reorder points for fast-moving consumables (standard eyelets, standard corner protectors, primary double-sided tape rolls, common Kappa board sizes).

3. Inward Quality Assurance & Technical Validation

Formulate and enforce incoming Raw Material Acceptance Standards:

Board Quality: Inspect Kappa/MDF shipments for caliper uniformity, flat grain alignment, edge smoothness, and moisture content (to prevent cover bowing post-pasting).

Adhesive Integrity: Validate manufacturer certificates of analysis (COA), batch dates,



and shelf-life limits for all gums and high-tack 3M tapes.

Hardware Standards: Inspect eyelet buttons and corner protectors for uniform plating, smooth die-crimping edges, and zero rust/oxidation defects.

Packaging Standards: Verify burst strength and edge-crush test (ECT) values for export-bound master cartons.

Manage vendor rejections, debit notes, and root-cause corrective action (CAPA) for out-of-spec materials.

Education: Diploma in Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, Printing & Packaging Technology, or Commerce.

Experience: 4 to 8 years of direct purchasing, procurement, or sourcing experience within:

Rigid box manufacturing, bookbinding, or luxury mono-carton packaging, OR

Textile sampling, swatch card, or catalogue manufacturing units, OR

Commercial print conversion and specialized paper converting plants.

Technical Sourcing Competencies:

In-depth commercial sourcing knowledge of paperboard calipers, Kappa board grades, MDF, and book cloth/buckram.

Familiarity with technical tapes (acrylic vs. rubber adhesives, tissue vs. PET carriers, 3M product lines) and cold/hot-melt adhesives.

Practical understanding of metal stamping/hardware finishes (eyelets, rivets, metal corners) and electroplating quality.

Commercial understanding of corrugated export packaging standards (GSM, burst factor, moisture-barrier packaging).

Pay: Up to ₹30,000.00 per month
