About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer – Sheet Metal & Fabrication with strong hands-on expertise in SolidWorks and AutoCAD. The ideal candidate should have practical experience in designing customized sheet metal and fabricated components, assemblies and structures, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop customized sheet metal components, fabricated parts, assemblies and structures using SolidWorks.
- Prepare detailed 2D manufacturing and fabrication drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Convert customer drawings, sketches, concepts and specifications into production-ready designs.
- Develop 3D models, assemblies, flat patterns, DXF files, BOMs and fabrication drawings.
- Design components considering material thickness, bend allowance, K-factor, bend sequence, tolerances and manufacturability.
- Design products suitable for laser cutting, press brake bending, welding, grinding and fabrication.
- Prepare and maintain cutting layouts, fabrication drawings, welding details and assembly drawings.
- Select suitable materials, profiles, fasteners and fabrication methods based on product requirements.
- Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing, assembly, quality and cost effectiveness.
- Coordinate closely with Production, Fabrication, Quality and Procurement teams for smooth execution of designs.
- Resolve design and fabrication-related issues during production and implement necessary modifications.
- Carry out design revisions, engineering changes and drawing updates based on customer and production requirements.
- Support design standardization, value engineering,



cost reduction and process improvement activities.
- Maintain proper drawing revision control, BOMs and engineering documentation.

Technical Skills

- Strong hands-on proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Good knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication methods.
- Practical understanding of:
- Laser Cutting
- MIG / TIG / Arc Welding
- Fabrication & Assembly
- Grinding and Finishing
- Positive knowledge of GD&T;, tolerances, fits and engineering drawing standards.
- Understanding of bend allowance, bend deduction, K-factor and flat pattern development.
- Ability to interpret customer drawings, fabrication drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience in preparing BOM, DXF, cutting drawings and production documentation.

Industry Experience

Candidates with experience in customized sheet metal, fabrication, industrial equipment, machinery, engineering products or structural fabrication will be preferred.

Qualification

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.

Experience

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Sheet Metal Design / Fabrication Design / Mechanical Design.
