1. Role Summary

The Career Counsellor will be responsible for guiding and supporting beneficiaries throughout their skilling journey by providing career counselling, aptitude assessment, course selection guidance, and employability support. The role focuses on helping learners make informed career decisions, improving retention, enhancing placement readiness, and facilitating successful transitions into employment.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Career Guidance & Counselling

- - Conduct one-on-one and group counselling sessions to assess learners' interests, aspirations, aptitude, and career goals.
- Guide prospective beneficiaries in selecting appropriate courses based on their educational background, skills, and employment opportunities.
- Counsel learners and their families on career pathways, training benefits, certification, and placement opportunities.

B. Learner Support & Engagement

- - Support the enrolment and onboarding process by coordinating with the Mobilizer and Centre Head.
- Monitor learner progress, motivation, attendance, and engagement throughout the training lifecycle.
- Identify learners requiring additional support and provide appropriate counselling to improve retention and course completion.

C. Employability & Placement Support

- - Prepare learners for employment through career planning, goal setting, interview preparation, workplace expectations, and qualified conduct.




- Coordinate with trainers and the Placement Officer to assess learners' job readiness and facilitate placement activities.

D. Documentation & Reporting

- - Maintain counselling records, learner profiles, aptitude assessments, career plans, and follow-up documentation.
- Prepare and submit counselling reports, learner progress updates, and MIS as required.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, project guidelines, and documentation requirements.

3. Qualifications & Experience

- - Bachelor's degree in any discipline. A degree or certification in Psychology, Human Resources, Social Work, Education, or a related field will be preferred.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in career counselling, student counselling, employability programs, education, or skill development projects.
- Experience in CSR-funded skilling or livelihood programs will be an added advantage.

4. Skills & Competencies

- - Strong counselling, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.
- Good understanding of career pathways, employability skills, and labour market trends.
- Excellent communication, active listening, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to build rapport with learners from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
- Proficiency in MS Office, MIS, and learner documentation.
- Strong planning, reporting, and stakeholder coordination skills.

5. Employment Details

- - Position Type: Full-time
- Reporting To: Centre Head
- Location: Skilling & Livelihood Centre
- Travel: Occasional local travel for outreach activities, employer interactions, community engagement, and project-related events, as required.
