Duration: Long-Term Position Summary We are seeking an experienced OBD & Safety Diagnostic Calibration Engineer with solid expertise in powertrain diagnostics, OBD II regulations, functional safety, and vehicle testing. The ideal candidate will support diagnostic calibration, DTC validation, safety requirements, and HiL/vehicle-level validation across conventional and electrified/hybrid powertrain systems.
Key Responsibilities
Calibrate diagnostics to ensure accurate failure-mode detection while minimizing false pass/fail conditions.
Validate diagnostic software strategies including short-to-high, short-to-low, open circuit, rationality, and functionality for LV1/LV2 diagnostics.
Develop software change requests to improve diagnostic strategies and reduce warranty issues.
Support VRT engineers in resolving Torque Security diagnostic issues and developing EV test procedures.
Review VRT test results and validate correct DTC, MIL/ETC lamp activation, vehicle reaction, and limp-home behavior.
Validate calibrations according to DVP&R; requirements.
Analyze engine scan data with reliability engineers to identify root causes of system reliability, durability, and fleet issues.
Develop diagnostic requirements for engine, transmission, electrified, and hybrid powertrain components in compliance with OBD II/CARB regulations.
Develop Functional and Technical Safety Concepts/Architectures in accordance with ISO 26262.




Support After Sales teams with Diagnostic Synthesis Table (DST) and Technical Specification Document (TSD) development/review.
Coordinate cross-functional and cross-regional teams to resolve diagnostic and fleet issues.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering/Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience in Powertrain Development, with domain knowledge in conventional and/or electrified/hybrid powertrain.
Strong experience developing diagnostic requirements and software implementation aligned with OBD II regulations.
Knowledge of DTC proposal requirements, MIL/warning lamp requirements, and AECD.
Hands-on experience with Functional Safety and ISO 26262.
Experience with HARA, FSC, TSC, ASIL requirements and decomposition.
Experience with FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA.
Knowledge of automotive standards including SAE J1979, SAE J2012, SAE J1968, and ISO 26262.
Experience with CAN communication protocols and tools such as CANalyzer.
Experience with calibration tools such as INCA and MDA.
Experience with HiL validation and vehicle testing.
Valid driver's license and ability to support vehicle testing.
Strong organizational, multitasking, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively with cross-regional teams.
High proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
