Role Summary

The QA Engineer Retail POS Systems is responsible for the quality, reliability, and performance of the retail POS system before it reaches the retail floor. Working as an individual contributor within the QA team, this role designs and executes test cases across SIT, UAT, and regression cycles to ensure POS functionality works seamlessly across stores and integrates correctly with downstream systems.

Core Responsibilities

- Create test strategies and execute test cases for core POS functions including billing, returns, tenders, refunds, and promotions.

- Perform system integration testing (SIT) to validate the POS against downstream systems such as loyalty platforms, eCommerce, payment gateways, and inventory.

- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by preparing test data, documenting scenarios, and assisting business users.

- Execute regression test suites for each release and configuration change to confirm existing functionality is unaffected.

- Log, track, and retest defects through the defect lifecycle,



ensuring timely resolution before store rollouts.

- Document test results, traceability, and sign-off evidence in the test management tool.

Required Skills

- Hands-on experience testing retail POS or enterprise commerce systems.

- Solid understanding of POS workflows: sales, returns, exchanges, tenders, price/promotions, and end-of-day.

- Experience with functional, integration (SIT), regression, and UAT testing methodologies.

- Proficiency with a test management / defect-tracking tool (e.g., JIRA, ALM, Azure DevOps).

- Ability to read interface specifications and validate data flows to downstream systems.

- Basic SQL for back-end data validation.

Nice to Have

- Prior exposure to Oracle Xstore POS testing.

- Experience creating and executing XUnit test cases, including writing automated unit and integration tests and integrating them into the CI/CD pipeline.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

- 2 3 years of software QA experience, preferably in retail or POS environments.

- ISTQB Foundation or equivalent QA certification is a plus.
