Role & responsibilities

The Food Technician ESG will be responsible for supporting food safety, quality, hygiene, sustainability, and ESG-related initiatives across restaurant operations. The role will ensure compliance with food safety standards, monitor food handling practices, conduct inspections, maintain documentation, and support initiatives related to food waste reduction and sustainable food operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Food Safety & Quality

- Conduct regular food safety and hygiene inspections across outlets.
- Monitor food receiving, storage, preparation, cooking, and serving processes.
- Ensure compliance with FSSAI, HACCP, GMP, and company food safety standards.
- Monitor temperature control, FIFO/FEFO, food storage, and expiry management.
- Identify food safety risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct regular checks of kitchen hygiene, personal hygiene, pest control, and sanitation practices.
- Support investigation of customer complaints related to food quality and safety.

2. ESG & Sustainability

- Support implementation of ESG initiatives across restaurants and kitchens.
- Monitor and help reduce food waste, water consumption, energy consumption, and single-use plastic.
- Track food waste and identify opportunities for waste reduction.
- Support segregation and proper disposal of food and other waste.
- Assist in implementing sustainable sourcing and responsible food practices.
- Collect and maintain ESG-related operational data for reporting.

3. Audits & Compliance

- Conduct internal food safety and hygiene audits.
- Prepare audit reports and highlight non-compliance areas.
- Follow up with outlet teams on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain records of food safety inspections, audits, pest control, cleaning schedules, and other compliance documents.
- Coordinate with external auditors, laboratories, vendors, and regulatory authorities when required.

4. Training & Awareness

- Conduct training for kitchen and service teams on:
- Food safety and hygiene




- Personal hygiene
- Food handling and storage
- Cross-contamination prevention
- Food waste management
- Sustainable practices
- Waste segregation

- Create awareness among employees regarding ESG and responsible food operations.

5. Food Testing & Monitoring

- Coordinate food, water, and environmental sample testing with approved laboratories.
- Maintain laboratory testing records and follow up on reports.
- Monitor food quality parameters and ensure corrective action wherever required.
- Assist in maintaining documentation related to calibration of thermometers and other food safety equipment.

- Food safety audit compliance score
- Reduction in food waste
- Reduction in food safety non-conformities
- Timely closure of CAPA
- Outlet hygiene compliance
- Completion of food safety and ESG training
- Food testing and documentation compliance
- Improvement in sustainable operational practices

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Basic understanding of FSSAI, HACCP, GMP, and food safety systems.
- Understanding of ESG and sustainability practices.
- Good observation and auditing skills.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Positive communication and training skills.
- Ability to work with restaurant operations and kitchen teams.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office.
- Willingness to travel across multiple outlets.

Preferred Certifications

- HACCP certification
- FSSAI/FoSTaC certification
- Food Safety Supervisor certification
- Knowledge of ESG/Sustainability reporting will be an advantage.

Preferred candidate profile

The ideal candidate should have a Food Technology/Food Science background with practical knowledge of food safety, hygiene, quality control, and sustainability. The candidate should be comfortable visiting multiple restaurant outlets, conducting audits, interacting with operational teams, and maintaining accurate compliance and ESG records.
