Role & responsibilities

- The Credit Balance Review Specialist is responsible for identifying, researching, analyzing, and resolving credit balances in patient and insurance accounts.
- The role involves reviewing overpayments, duplicate payments, contractual adjustments, refunds, and account corrections while ensuring compliance with payer regulations and client policies.

Preferred candidate profile :

- Review and analyze credit balance accounts on a daily basis.
- Identify the root cause of credit balances, including:
- Overpayments
- Duplicate payments
- Incorrect adjustments
- Coordination of Advantages (COB) issues
- Patient overpayments




- Initiate and process insurance and patient refunds as required.
- Research payer contracts and payment guidelines to ensure accurate resolution.
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding credit balance discrepancies.
- Prepare refund requests and obtain necessary approvals.
- Document account findings and actions taken in the billing system.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer regulations.
- Meet productivity and quality targets established by the organization.
- Maintain accurate records of refunds, recoupments, and account adjustments.
- Escalate unresolved issues to management as required.
