Role Summary

We are seeking a proactive, hands-on Formulation Chemist cum

Production Manager to bridge the gap between R&D; innovation and commercial-scale manufacturing. In this dual role, you will lead the formulation development of home care and personal care products while overseeing end-to-end plant operations, quality assurance, batch scale-up, and process optimization at our Begrajpur unit.

Key Responsibilities

1. R&D; & Formulation Development

- Design, formulate, and refine performance-driven product lines:

- Home Care and Laundry Care: Liquid Detergents, Fabric Conditioners, Dishwash Liquids, Floor & Surface Cleaners, Glass Cleaners, Toilet Cleaners, Degreasers, and Disinfectants.

- Conduct lab-scale trials, stability studies, and pilot batches.
- Evaluate alternative raw materials and work with suppliers to optimize cost without compromising quality or performance.
- Benchmark formulations against market competitors and customer specifications.

2. Production & Scale-Up Management

- Successfully transition lab-scale formulas into efficient, commercial-scale production processes.
- Prepare and strictly enforce Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Supervise batch mixing sequences, critical processing parameters (pH, viscosity, temperature, active matter),



dosing accuracy, and equipment setup.
- Maintain high production efficiency while minimizing raw material yield loss and batch failures.
- Oversee preventive maintenance and operation of mixing tanks, agitators, pumps, and filling lines.

3. Quality Assurance & Control

- Implement end-to-end quality protocols for raw material inspection, in-process testing, and final product release.
- Monitor product parameters: active matter percentage, density, viscosity, pH, stability, and cleaning efficacy.
- Maintain Certificates of Analysis (COAs), test records, and retain samples to ensure batch-to-batch consistency.

4. Plant Execution, Safety & Cost Management

- Work with management to continuously reduce cost per kilogram/liter to meet target profit margins.
- Maintain plant safety, chemical storage guidelines, and housekeeping protocols.
- Supervise, train, and guide plant operators and helpers on batch execution, safety gear (PPE), and process compliance.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Core Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of surfactant chemistry (LABSA, SLES, CAPB, non-ionics), builders, emulsifiers, polymers, preservatives, and fragrance systems.
- Hands-on Scale-Up Experience: Proven ability to take a product through every stage: Formula Lab Trial Pilot Batch Commercial Scale QC Documentation.
- Troubleshooting: Quick diagnostic skills for production issues, separation, phase instability, or viscosity variations.
- Commercial Mindset: Sound understanding of formulation costing, margin targets, and yield calculations.
- Leadership: Robust floor presence to manage workers and execute daily targets efficiently.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Number of commercialized new formulations developed.
- First-time-right batch success rate and batch-to-batch consistency.
- Yield optimization and minimization of raw material wastage.
- Cost reduction per unit produced.
- Implementation and compliance rate of SOPs and BMRs.
