Boarding Coordinator - Residential School
Position Summary
The Boarding Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination and smooth functioning of the boarding/residential programme. The role involves ensuring the safety, wellbeing, discipline, pastoral care and holistic development of boarders, while coordinating boarding
staff, student routines, activities and communication with parents and school leadership. The role requires strong organisational, interpersonal and leadership skills, along with the ability to work effectively in a 24-hour residential school environment. Similar boarding-school

Key Responsibilities
1. Student Welfare & Pastoral Care
Ensure the physical, emotional, social and overall wellbeing of boarders.
Develop a safe, caring and supportive "home away from home" setting.
Monitor students' individual needs, behaviour, adjustment and general wellbeing.
Identify concerns at an early stage and coordinate appropriate support.
Work closely with counsellor, nurses, teachers and school leadership when required.
2. Boarding Operations
Coordinate the day-to-day functioning of the boarding houses.
Ensure effective implementation of boarding routines, schedules and procedures. Monitor wake-up, preparation for school, study hours, meals, recreation, evening routines and lights-out.
Ensure proper supervision of students during weekdays, weekends and school activities.
Maintain appropriate records, registers, and attendance and student movement details.
3. Discipline & Student Management
Maintain discipline in accordance with school policies and the student code of conduct.
Address behavioural issues fairly, consistently and professionally.
Encourage students to develop responsibility, independence, respect and good personal habits.
Act as a positive role model and mentor to students.
4. Boarding Staff Coordination
Coordinate the work of House Parents, Wardens, and other boarding staff.
Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate student supervision.
Conduct regular meetings and communicate boarding-related instructions effectively.
5. Parent & Guardian Communication
Serve as an important point of contact for parents/guardians regarding boarding- related matters.
Communicate student concerns, achievements and important developments professionally.
Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive student and family information.
Coordinate parent communication during emergencies or significant incidents.
6. Health, Safety & Child Protection
Ensure boarding facilities provide a safe and secure environment.
Coordinate with the school nurse/infirmary regarding student health concerns.
Ensure appropriate procedures are followed during illness, injury or emergencies.
Maintain awareness of child protection, safeguarding and student welfare procedures.
Ensure all incidents are documented and escalated through the appropriate channels.
Educational Qualification
Graduate degree in any discipline from a recognised institution.
A qualification in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Child Development, Counselling, Nursing or a related field will be an advantage.
Additional certification in Child Protection, First Aid, CPR or Residential/Boarding Management is desirable.
Experience
Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a residential/boarding school.
Experience in managing adolescents and coordinating residential staff is preferred.
Candidates with experience as a Boarding Coordinator, House Parent, Hostel Warden, Boarding Housemaster/Housemistress, Residential Tutor or Student Welfare Coordinator may be considered.
Experience in an international/residential school environment will be an added advantage.
