Role & responsibilities

- Designation: Mechanical Design Engineer Pump
- Department: Engineering / Mechanical Design
- Function: Pump Design & Engineering

Job Purpose

To design and develop pump-related mechanical components, assemblies, and systems in accordance with customer requirements, process conditions, technical specifications, applicable standards, and manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop mechanical designs for pumps and associated components.
- Prepare detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD/SolidWorks.
- Perform mechanical calculations for shafts, couplings, supports, fasteners, and other components.
- Review pump specifications and customer technical requirements.
- Coordinate with process and engineering teams for appropriate equipment selection and configuration.
- Select suitable materials based on application, fluid characteristics, temperature, pressure, corrosion, and operating conditions.
- Prepare BOMs, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
- Ensure designs are suitable for manufacturing and assembly.




- Coordinate with procurement, production, quality, and project teams.
- Investigate and resolve design-related issues during manufacturing and testing.
- Support cost reduction, standardization, and value engineering initiatives.
- Provide technical support during inspection, installation, and commissioning.

Technical Skills

- AutoCAD/SolidWorks.
- Mechanical calculations.
- Understanding of pump components and assemblies.
- Basic knowledge of pump application and selection.
- Material selection.
- Manufacturing and fabrication knowledge.
- DFMA principles.
- Engineering drawing and BOM preparation.

Preferred candidate profile

- Experience: 1-2 years preferred
- Qualification: B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering discipline
- Reporting To: Engineering Manager / Head Mechanical Design
