Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Purchase Manager to lead procurement, strategic sourcing, vendor development, cost optimization, and supply chain management activities for a motor manufacturing business. The incumbent will be responsible for sourcing and procurement of machined components, castings, motor components, tooling, fixtures, consumables, capital equipment, testing instruments, and outsourced engineering job works while ensuring quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met.

The role requires extensive knowledge of CNC/VMC machining, motor manufacturing components, gearbox components, casting processes, injection molding, gear manufacturing, and engineering outsourcing processes.

Key Responsibilities- Strategic Procurement & Sourcing

- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Lead sourcing of engineering components, raw materials, tooling, fixtures, and capital equipment.
- Establish long-term supplier partnerships and annual rate contracts.
- Drive supplier consolidation and procurement cost reduction initiatives.
- Ensure uninterrupted material availability to support production schedules.
- Monitor market trends, commodity pricing, and supplier capacities.

Procurement of Machined Components

Manage sourcing and procurement of:

- CNC turned components
- CNC milling components
- VMC machined parts
- Precision machined assemblies
- Shafts
- Rotor shafts
- Armature components
- Motor housings
- End covers
- Bearing housings
- Precision engineering components

Required understanding of:

- Technical drawings
- BOM structures
- GD&T;
- Material specifications
- Tolerance requirements
- Manufacturing feasibility

Outsourcing & Job Work Management

Lead outsourcing activities for:

- CNC machining
- VMC machining
- Grinding operations
- Surface grinding
- Cylindrical grinding
- ID/OD grinding




- Drilling and tapping
- Key slot machining
- Broaching
- Mandrel manufacturing
- Jig manufacturing
- Fixture development
- Tool room activities Ensure:
- Vendor capacity availability
- Job work quality compliance
- Delivery adherence
- Cost competitiveness

Gearbox & Gear Manufacturing Procurement

Responsible for procurement and vendor development of:

- Planet wheels
- Planet carriers
- Sun gears
- Ring gears
- Gear shafts
- Pinions
- Helical gears
- Spur gears

Outsourced processes including:

- Gear hobbing
- Gear shaping
- Gear slotting
- Gear grinding
- Heat treatment operations

Motor Components Procurement

Manage procurement of:

- Copper rods
- Copper strips
- Enameled copper wires
- Magnets (Ferrite and Neodymium)
- Coils
- Armatures
- Commutators
- Carbon brushes
- Connectors
- Electrical insulation materials
- Wiring assemblies

Develop strong supplier networks for critical motor manufacturing components.

Surface Treatment & Heat Treatment Procurement

Coordinate outsourcing activities for:

- Nitriding
- Gas nitriding
- Induction hardening
- Case hardening
- Powder coating
- Zinc plating
- Black oxide coating
- Phosphating
- Anodizing
- Surface finishing processes

Casting Procurement

Lead sourcing and development of suppliers for:

Gravity Die Casting (GDC)

- Motor body
- Gearbox housing
- Covers
- End shields

Pressure Die Casting (PDC)

- Gearbox bodies
- Covers
- Structural castings
- Precision cast components

Manage:

- Tooling development
- Pattern approvals




- Casting quality standards
- Foundry audits

Plastic Injection Molding Procurement

Responsible for procurement of:

- Injection molded components
- Engineering plastic parts
- Nylon components
- ABS components
- Polycarbonate components
- Molded assemblies

Coordinate:

- Recent mold development
- Tool modifications
- Vendor qualification

Tooling, Fixture & Engineering Development Procurement

Procure and develop:

- Crimping tools
- Cutting tools
- Press tools
- Machining fixtures
- Assembly fixtures
- Welding fixtures
- Inspection gauges
- Development fixtures
- Custom tooling
- SPM requirements

Testing Equipment & Quality Tools Procurement

Manage procurement of:

- Torque testing equipment
- Electrical testing systems
- Inspection instruments
- Calibration equipment
- Measurement gauges
- Production validation fixtures
- Endurance testing rigs

Vendor Development & Supplier Quality Management

- Identify and develop alternate suppliers.
- Conduct supplier assessments and audits.
- Drive localization and import substitution initiatives.
- Monitor supplier performance through KPI reviews.
- Support PPAP and APQP activities.
- Ensure supplier compliance with quality standards.
- Implement supplier improvement programs.

Commercial & Cost Management

- Lead commercial negotiations.
- Perform cost analysis and should-costing.
- Evaluate quotations and supplier proposals.
- Establish annual savings targets.
- Optimize payment terms and commercial agreements.
- Drive value engineering and cost reduction projects.

Inventory & Supply Chain Management

- Work closely with planning and production teams.
- Ensure optimum inventory levels.
- Manage lead times and replenishment planning.
- Prevent production stoppages due to material shortages.
- Improve inventory turnover and working capital utilization.
