We are looking for a strong Senior Backend Engineer with 5+ years of experience in designing and developing scalable, secure, cloud-native backend platforms.

The candidate should have strong handson experience with Java, SpringBoot, microservices, relational databases, distributed systems and eventdriven architectures. The role involves building distributed services and deployment of single codebase to multiple geographies working with asynchronous/event-driven systems, optimizing application and database performance, and deploying services on Kubernetes and Azure.

Deep understanding of databases and various migration strategies .

Experience building systems deployed across multiple geographical regions will be highly valuable.

While building applications maintenance will be key consideration .

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using Java 17/21 and Spring Boot.

Design RESTful APIs and independently develop production-grade micro services.

Apply OOP, SOLID principles and appropriate design patterns while designing maintainable systems.

Design service-to-service communication using synchronous APIs and asynchronous/event-driven patterns.

Should have good understanding of at least 1 event streaming services like kafka.

Design and optimize data models using PostgreSQL/MySQL.

Write efficient SQL and troubleshoot slow queries using indexing, query plans and database optimisation techniques.

Use Redis for caching, distributed state and performance optimisation where appropriate.





Implement authentication and authorisation using Spring Security, OAuth2 and JWT.

Containerise applications using Docker and deploy/manage workloads on Kubernetes.

Develop cloud-native applications running on Microsoft Azure.

Work with MongoDB for appropriate document-oriented workloads.

Use Elastic search/OpenSearch for search, indexing and analytical use cases.

Implement automated build, testing and deployment pipelines using Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions.

Write high-quality automated tests using JUnit and Mockito.

Implement application logging, monitoring and troubleshooting using the ELK stack.

Participate in system design, architecture reviews, code reviews and technical discussions.

Diagnose production issues across application, database, cache, messaging and infrastructure layers.

Design applications for high availability, scalability, fault tolerance and resiliency.

Contribute to systems deployed across multiple geographical regions while considering latency, availability, disaster recovery and data residency.

Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.

Backend Development

Strong hands-on experience with Java 17/21





Solid experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC and Spring Data JPA

Experience designing REST APIs and Micro-services

Good understanding of multithreading, concurrency, JVM fundamentals and exception handling

Working knowledge of one or more additional backend languages such as java , go-lang

Data & Distributed Systems

Solid experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL

Robust SQL skills including indexing and query optimisation

Hands-on experience with Redis

Experience with Kafka and Event-Driven Architecture

Understanding of transactions, consistency, idempotency and distributed-system failure scenarios

Exposure to No SQL and key value databases .

Exposure to Elastic search/OpenSearch

Security

Experience with Spring Security

Good understanding of OAuth 2.0, JWT, authentication and authorisation

Understanding of API security and secure service-to-service communication

Cloud & DevOps

Hands-on experience with Docker

Experience deploying and operating applications on Kubernetes

Experience with Microsoft Azure
