Purpose of the Job:

Advise and assist the ULT Team in the fulfilment of its obligation - Statutory, ATL Global HSE, Quality, Technology, Internal Control Environment Standards or others, concerning prevention of any environmental incidents and maintaining an optimal environment footprint.
Understand and fulfil the compliance obligations emanating from the Environment Protection Act & Rules and the various other regulations under its umbrella as the Environment Officer of the Unit.
Drive the environment compliance and sustainability agenda across the Unit to ensure the risks caused by and / or inherent to Unit Operations are identified, assessed, preventive measures and mitigation plans are put in place to minimize the risks to environment and communicated to Unit personnel, business partners, community and statutory bodies in appropriate detail; compliance to these are monitored, audited and reviewed to ensure continual improvement in the performance.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Statutory Compliance : As OWNER on the ATL Compliance Tool ensure compliance with the following as applicable for the environment aspects – Factories Act, Act & Rules under the umbrella of the Environment Protection Act, Conditions of the Consent to Establish, Consent to Operate (Ai & Water), Haz. Waste Authorization, EPR – Plastic, Tyres etc.
2. Plan for Implementation of Environment Management System:Ensure Hazard Identification, Assessment of Impact, Risk & Opportunities related to Unit Ops including issues related to visitors, suppliers,



contractors & customers.Ensure the EMS requirements emanating from Statutory Requirements or those of Global ATL HSE MS Standards and compliance plans are put in place.Establish EMS Objectives & goals to address the risks and to maintain continuous improvement of the EMS and secure approval from BU Head / Unit HSE Head.
3. Support the Implementation of Environment Management System :Resources : Work with ULT to secure adequate resources [personnel, tools & equipment and organizational structure to support EMS Awareness : Drive site wide awareness program on EMS policies, objectives & applicable requirements + right to remove oneself from any unsafe situation.Competence : Document, monitor, assess & review on job competence of personnel to ensure optimal EMS ; provide necessary training; reassign where needed.Communication : Anchor internal and external communication of information related to the EMS in line with agreed protocols.Documentation : Ensure that required documentation is completed, maintained n required format; kept updated ; with traceability for any changes; Relevant documentation must be made available for use when and where it is required but also safeguarded to protect sensitive information and prevent improper use.
4. Operationalize the Setting Management System:Operational Planning and Control: Establish processes and implement controls to meet EMS; ensure that training required is delivered & documented.Change Management : Careful planning & risk assessment / mitigation is done for all major changes. Execution is closely monitored and recorded.Hazard Elimination & Risk Reduction : Identified risks are addressed and controlled to ALARP levels through – Elimination, Substitution, Engineering Control, Admin Control & PPEProcurements : Ensure that controls are in place to identify, assess and mitigate risks arising out of new equipment,



material or resources introduced to the Site.Emergency Preparedness & Response : Ensure that EP&R; Plan is documented ; trained ; implemented; tested [mock drills]; audited & reviewed for effectiveness
5. Evaluate Performance of Environment Management System :Monitoring, Measurement, Analysis, and Performance Evaluation of EMS System implementation and publish MIS to monitor effective implementation.Internal Audit : Plan & implement documented internal audit program [ Management System; Specialist ; Operational [WPI; OC etc.]; Track & report effectiveness.Management Review: Participate in the Unit HSE & ES Management Review at quarterly frequency. Conduct EMS & OPC review of the system at monthly frequency.
6. Drive Improvement through Environment Management System:Incident, Non-Conformity, and Corrective Action : Implement reporting process; Ensure appropriate documentation, investigations & CAPA and effective closure.Continual Improvement : Drive continual improvement in EMS; Secure and sustain ISO 14001 certification of the EMS Program.
7. Operations & Management of ETP + Pollution Monitoring & Control Equipment: Own and maintain oversight of Unit ETP & PM&CE.; and meet service SLAs & Cost Targets.

Skills:

- Understanding of GPCB Acts, Rules, and Notifications
- Environmental monitoring and reporting (monthly/quarterly returns to GPCB)
- Proficiency in Form I, IV, V (for hazardous waste, water cess, etc.)
- Consent management under Water, Air & Hazardous Waste Acts
- Operation & maintenance of pollution control equipment (ETP/STP/APC)
- Handling of online portals: XGN, OCEMS, etc.
- Sampling and analysis procedures as per GPCB norms
- Liaising with GPCB officers during inspection and audits
- Record keeping and documentation as per GPCB formats
- Emergency response preparedness for environmental incidents
- Environmental incident investigation and CAPA
- Environmental risk assessment and mitigation
- Waste management (hazardous and non-hazardous)
- Sustainability and resource efficiency programs
- Training and awareness program execution
- Stakeholder and regulatory engagement.

Relevant Experience: 10-15 yrs exp
Education Qualification(s): Degree/Master in Environment.
