RESPONSIBILITIES
Source fabrics wovens, knits and specialty as per buyer and style requirements
Identify and develop relationships with mills, traders and process houses
Obtain and negotiate fabric quotes; compare cost, quality and lead time
Coordinate fabric approvals lab dips, strike-offs, physical swatches with QA and merchandising
Track fabric orders from placement to in-house delivery; follow up on delays
Maintain an updated fabric library and vendor database
Evaluate current fabrics and surfaces for product development
Support cost reduction through alternative source development
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
3 to 5 years of experience in fabric sourcing, fabric trading or at a textile mill.
Sound knowledge of fabric constructions — wovens, knits,
georgettes, crepes, dobby, printed fabrics
Understanding of dyeing, printing and finishing processes and their impact on quality
Experience in fabric costing and negotiation with mills and traders
Familiarity with testing standards — shrinkage, colour fastness, GSM, tensile strength
Proficient in MS Excel and skilled email communication
Degree in Textile Technology, Fashion or equivalent — preferred
PREFERENCE We prefer candidates who are based in or around Faridabad.
