Mines Manager – Class II (Statutory)
Location: Wani, Yavatmal, Maharashtra (2 mine locations – candidate may be based at one, with periodic visits to the other, or one Manager per mine depending on lease size)
Purpose of Role
Overall statutory in-charge of the mine as defined under the Mines Act, 1952 and Mines Rules, ensuring protected, compliant, and efficient extraction operations.
Key Responsibilities
Hold statutory charge of the mine as Manager under a valid Mines Manager Certificate of Competency – Class II, issued by DGMS.
Ensure compliance with the Mines Act 1952, Mines Rules 1955, Metalliferous Mines Regulations (MMR) 1961, and all applicable environmental/forest clearances.
Prepare and implement systematic mining plans, benching, and slope stability measures in coordination with the Geologist and approved mining plan/scheme.
Supervise Foremen, Mining Mates, and Blasters; ensure daily production and safety targets are met.
Maintain statutory registers, returns, and reports (Form 12, accident registers, inspection reports, DGMS correspondence).
Liaise with DGMS, DMG (Directorate of Geology & Mining), Forest & Environment departments, and other regulatory authorities.
Investigate accidents/near-misses and implement corrective/preventive action.
Ensure explosive magazine management and blasting operations are conducted per statutory norms.
Review and approve monthly/annual mining plans, dispatch, and reconciliation with the DPR/MIS team.
Ensure environmental compliance (dust suppression, water management, mine closure plan progress).
Qualifications & Statutory Requirements
Valid First Class or Second Class Mines Manager's Certificate of Competency (Metalliferous Mines) issued by DGMS.
B.Tech/B.E. in Mining Engineering preferred (not mandatory if certificate held with requisite experience).
Minimum 8–10 years of mining experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory/statutory capacity.
Sound knowledge of Mines Act, MMR, Explosives Rules, and Environmental regulations.
Skills
Solid leadership and crisis-management ability.
Working knowledge of mine planning software (SURPAC/Minesched preferred) is a plus.
Good liaison and documentation skills for regulatory interface.
Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹400,000.00 per year
