Job Responsibilities:
Supervise day-to-day operations of the Fettling Shop including grinding, chipping, shot blasting, cutting, dressing and finishing of castings.
Ensure proper removal of risers, runners, gates, fins and excess metal as per drawing/specifications.
Allocate manpower and monitor productivity as per production plan.
Ensure casting quality, dimensional requirements and minimum rejection/rework.
Coordinate with Foundry, Quality, Maintenance and Production Planning teams.
Monitor and control material handling, tools, consumables and equipment used in fettling operations.
Ensure proper operation and upkeep of grinding machines, gas cutting equipment, shot blasting machines and other fettling equipment.
Maintain daily production, rejection, rework and manpower records.
Implement 5S, safety practices and PPE compliance in the shop.
Identify process issues and take corrective actions to improve productivity and quality.
Train and guide operators/workmen on secure and effective fettling practices.
