Role & responsibilities
Requirement Analysis: Review source-to-target mapping (STM) documents, business specifications, and data models to understand data flows and transformation logic.
Test Planning & Design: Create detailed test plans, test scenarios, and test cases based on data completeness, correctness, and transformation rules.
SQL Scripting & Data Validation: Write complex SQL queries to compare source data against target data, validating row counts, aggregates, and null constraints.
Transformation Testing: Verify that business rules, data masking, filtering, and lookup logic are applied correctly during the transformation phase.
Defect Management: Identify, log, and track data discrepancies or pipeline failures, and collaborate with data engineers to resolve them.
Performance & Regression Testing: Check the execution speed and performance of ETL jobs under large data volumes, running regression suites after pipeline updates.
UAT Support: Assist business users during User Acceptance Testing by providing query results, reconciliation reports, and documentation sign-offs.
