About the Role

Position Overview Curatorial Role Overview (Mid‑Level, 5+ Years Experience)You will have the opportunity to help shape the museum’s research, collections care, and public interpretation, and support the smooth running of the department. The role combines core curatorial work—research, documentation, and collections care—with solid organisational and administrative skills. The curator will help manage day‑to‑day workflows, maintain accurate records, coordinate with colleagues across the museum, and contribute to exhibitions and public programmes. The role requires demonstrated object expertise, documentation and collections management skills, and the ability to develop clear, engaging narratives for exhibitions and programmes. You will contribute to research, cataloguing, conservation planning, and audience‑facing outputs, working collaboratively across teams. Candidates should bring intellectual rigour, strong writing and communication skills, and a mature, responsible approach.

Responsibilities

- Collections Management and Documentation
- Document the collection
- Collections management including inventories, object movement,



store and location management in collaboration with the conservation team.
- Support conservation assessments and implement preventive care protocols.
- Conduct research on objects for display, publication, and education.
- Exhibitions
- Propose and curate temporary and permanent exhibitions at internal and external locations.
- Draft exhibition texts, labels, and interpretive material.
- Coordinate with design, education, and technical teams for exhibition execution.
- Manage and maintain existing permanent galleries.
- Research
- Undertake object-based research, prepare notes, and maintain research databases.
- Assist in producing scholarly and popular publications.
- Support the development of digital archives and online content.
- Public Engagement
- Plan and and conduct guided tours, workshops, and lectures.
- Contribute to children’s and community-based engagement programs.
- Develop educational material aligned with the museum’s exhibitions.
- Manage access requests to collections.
- Administration
- Report, schedule, and coordinate with other departments.
- Maintain records of loans, exhibitions, and collections management activities.
- Write grant applications, proposals, and manage communications.




- Develop and maintain communication with academic institutions to encourage long-term engagement with the Museum’s offerings.

Qualifications

- Qualifications and ExperiencePostgraduate degree in History, Art History, Museum Studies, Heritage Management, or a related field.
- Prior experience (minimum 5 years) in a documentation, collections management or other curatorial role within a museum, archive, or cultural institution.
- Project management and organizational skills for coordinating multiple timelines.
- Strong research and writing skills in English are essential.

Required Skills

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Written and spoken communication in Hindi.
