The School Librarian will be responsible for managing the school library, maintaining library resources, assisting students and teachers in accessing appropriate books and learning materials, and promoting a positive reading culture across the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Library Management
- Manage the day-to-day functioning of the school library.
- Maintain books, journals, magazines, reference materials and other library resources.
- Maintain proper records of books issued, returned, damaged and newly received.
- Organise and arrange books systematically according to the library classification system.
- Ensure the library remains clean, organised and student-friendly.
- Student Support
- Assist students in selecting books appropriate to their age, interests and academic requirements.
- Encourage students to develop regular reading habits.
- Conduct library orientation sessions for new students.
- Maintain discipline and a quiet learning environment in the library.
- Guide students in using reference materials and other learning resources.
- Academic Support
- Coordinate with teachers to provide books and resources required for classroom learning.
- Support students with research and project-related resources.
- Recommend new books and educational materials based on curriculum requirements.
- Assist in developing reading programmes and library-based activities.
- Records & Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of library stock and inventory.
- Conduct periodic physical verification of books and other resources.
- Maintain records of lost, damaged and replaced books.
- Prepare library-related reports as required by the school management.
- Library Activities
- Organise reading programmes,
storytelling sessions, book reviews, book fairs and other literary activities.
- Encourage participation in reading and library-related competitions.
- Promote awareness of new books and resources among students and teachers.
- Technology & Digital Resources
- Maintain digital library records, if applicable.
- Assist students and teachers in accessing e-books and other digital learning resources.
- Ensure proper use of computers and digital resources available in the library.
- Administrative Responsibilities
- Follow all school policies, rules and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of school and student information.
- Coordinate with the administration regarding procurement of books and library materials.
- Perform other library-related duties assigned by the Principal or management.
Required Qualifications:-
- Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Library Science or equivalent qualification.
- B.Lib / M.Lib preferred.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications and library management systems.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience:-
- 1–5 years of experience in a school library or educational institution preferred.
- Freshers with relevant qualifications and good communication skills may also be considered.
Working Hours:- 8 am - 2.45pm
Pay: ₹25,051.00 - ₹30,012.00 per month
