About the Commercial Function:
The Commercial team sits at the heart of Officeworks growth agenda. This function brings together customer needs, product innovation, services, supplier partnerships, merchandise planning, and channel growth to shape what Officeworks sells, how it competes, and the value it delivers across Retail, B2B, Government, and Education. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the businesss most commercially impactful areas.
The team plays a key role in evolving Officeworks product and service offering, accelerating growth in high-potential channels (such as B2B and Education), expanding private label and exclusive ranges, strengthening supplier partnerships, and unlocking emerging category opportunities across areas like technology, gaming, mobility, VR, print, installation, telco, and managed services.
You will help build commercial capability from the ground up, shaping scalable ways of working, strengthening planning and decision-making, and driving outcomes that impact sales, margin, customer experience, inventory performance, and long-term growth.

Why this role exists:
The Senior Analyst, Pricing is responsible for converting pricing strategy, competitive intelligence and product economics into timely, commercially sound pricing recommendations. The role helps maintain competitive price positioning while balancing customer value, sales performance and gross margin. The role connects long-term pricing activity through Total Product Review cycles with near-term trade and competitor responses. It ensures approved pricing decisions are executed accurately across channels, maintains strong data and control quality and provides technical guidance on complex pricing analysis and decisions.
Where you will make a difference:
Pricing Strategy and Commercial Insight
- Shape and translate retail pricing strategies across assigned category portfolios, supporting competitive price positioning and gross margin objectives.
- Analyse price elasticity, category volume, sales mix and product economics to assess the commercial impact of pricing options.
- Develop financial models, pricing scenarios and forecasts to support strategic price changes, range reviews and commercial decisions.
- Recommend pricing actions that balance customer value, competitive positioning, sales performance and category margin.
- Track implemented pricing decisions against expected outcomes, identifying risks and opportunities for further action.
Market Intelligence and Competitor Pricing
- Analyse competitive pricing data and other market sources to assess enterprise and category price index positions.
- Monitor competitor prices promotional activity to identify emerging market risks and opportunities.
- Translate competitor data into clear recommendations, reports and dashboards for commercial decision-making.
- Evaluate Price Beat Guarantee activity and competitive matching outcomes to assess price position and margin exposure.
- Identify competitor data anomalies, product-matching issues and coverage gaps, ensuring insights are based on reliable information.
Trade Response and Price Execution
- Coordinate near-term pricing responses, including competitor price matching, tactical price changes and promotional activity
- Translate approved pricing decisions into accurate price-change instructions across stores and digital channels.
- Prepare or review price files and SAP price loads, validating pricing logic, effective dates and product data before release.
- Verify alignment between approved prices, store ticketing, digital channels and promotional materials.
- Coordinate price-change activity during major retail events, ensuring delivery within agreed timeframes and operational capacity.
- Monitor execution outcomes and resolve or escalate pricing discrepancies, control failures and delivery risks.
Total Product Review and Range Pricing
- Develop pricing recommendations, tier structures and price architecture that support category and enterprise pricing principles.
- Evaluate the pricing implications of range additions, rationalisation, product substitutions and changes in product positioning.
- Assess promotional and markdown performance to improve future pricing recommendations.
- Maintain consistent pricing rules, methods and documentation across category planning routines.
Pricing Governance and Technical Quality
- Apply enterprise pricing policies, approval authorities, SAP validation rules and quality controls across all assigned pricing activity.
- Monitor price accuracy, data hygiene, store ticketing volumes and operational service levels.
- Maintain clear records of pricing recommendations, approvals, changes and exceptions to support auditability.
- Support compliance with the Competition and Consumer Act 2010, the Australian Consumer Law and internal pricing requirements, escalating potential issues promptly.
- Provide technical guidance to Pricing Analysts, reviewing complex analysis, pricing models and data-quality outputs.
- Identify opportunities to improve pricing methods, controls, reporting and automation across the function.
Who you will be working with:
- Commercial Leadership: Partner with the Commercial Leadership Team, Heads of Category, and Category Planners to shape pricing strategies and evaluate margin opportunities.
- Internal Operational Partners:Collaborate with Finance, Store Operations,
Technology and Data, Product Data, and Legal, Risk & Compliance teams to ensure pricing compliance and shelf ticketing execution.
- Pricing Analytics Peers:Guide and mentor pricing analysts, providing technical subject matter expertise and reviewing analytical outputs
- External Data Providers: Interact with competitor pricing platforms (ShopGrok) and market intelligence vendors to monitor pricing accuracy and market positioning.

Qualifications and work experience:
Essential
- Education: Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Finance, Economics, Analytics, or a related discipline is required (or equivalent retail pricing experience).
- Experience: 57+ years in retail pricing, commercial analytics, category planning, or a related field, including experience leading complex pricing initiatives or guiding analysts
- Technical Mastery:Advanced knowledge of retail pricing strategy, competitor price index modelling, price elasticity, range reviews, and margin management
- Systems Proficiency: Strong analytical capability and practical working knowledge of SAP price change modules, pricing controls, data hygiene validation, and in-store ticketing systems.
- Market Intelligence: Proven experience extracting, analysing, and synthesizing competitor pricing data from scraping tools to drive tactical price responses.
- Commercial Governance: Strong understanding of retail pricing compliance, Trade Practices regulations, price ticketing SLAs, and pricing risk escalation.
- Technical Coaching:Demonstrated capability to guide, review, and mentor pricing analysts on analytical methodologies and data modelling
Preferred
- Experience with predictive pricing tools, automated price file workflows, or advanced SQL/Python data modelling
- Direct retail pricing experience within high-SKU omnichannel retailor FMCG environments.
