Why this role exists:
The Associate Systems & Reporting Analyst provides hands-on technical and operational expertise to build, optimise, and maintain standardised merchandise reporting and business-critical planning solutions across the Commercial function. The role exists to support current operational reporting and merchandise planning workflows while developing more scalable, automated enterprise solutions.
Operating as a key interface between Commercial users and Technology teams, the role translates complex business requirements into robust reporting outputs and system capabilities. It ensures high data quality, reliable tool availability, and disciplined change control, reducing manual effort across category operations without compromising operational controls or reporting integrity

In this role you will:

Standardised Reporting Delivery:
Build, enhance, and distribute standardised merchandise reporting suites to support commercial decision-making across Category Management and Commercial leadership.
Extract, transform, and validate commercial data from core enterprise platforms including SAP, STIBO/PIM, and Snowflake.
Advise commercial business users on data interpretation, dashboard functionality, and underlying merchandise data structures.
Ensure all priority reporting outputs are delivered with high accuracy and strictly within agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
Systems Optimisation and Scalable Development:
Analyse existing merchandise reporting workflows and system processes to identify performance bottlenecks and technical limitations.
Partner with Commercial users to capture, refine, and document clear technical and functional requirements for next-generation reporting solutions.
Contribute to the design, testing, and deployment of scalable enterprise reporting architectures and automated data pipelines.
Coordinate with external implementation partners and internal analytics teams to migrate legacy reporting routines into scalable cloud-based environments.
Merchandise Planning Tool Stewardship:
Act as the primary technical steward for the existing Excel-based merchandise planning tool until a permanent enterprise solution is implemented.
Maintain data models, complex formulas, VBA scripts, and data connections supporting ongoing category planning cycles.
Apply disciplined documentation, testing, and version change control to protect model integrity and prevent data corruption.
Provide direct operational support and troubleshooting to Category Planning teams during critical trading and budgeting rhythms.




Data Governance and System Support:
Enforce rigorous data quality controls, validation checks, and data governance frameworks across all commercial reporting deliverables.
Coordinate directly with Technology and Data teams to log, track, and resolve system defects, pipeline failures, and platform incidents.
Monitor merchandise system availability and report issue-resolution metrics to maintain service standards.
Document end-to-end system workflows, data dictionaries, standard operating procedures, and user training guides
Continuous Improvement and Workflow Automation:
Identify recurring manual routines across commercial workflows and engineer automated solutions to release operational hours.
Utilise SQL, Python, or advanced Excel techniques to streamline data extraction, transformation, and reporting routines.
Evaluate dashboard usage metrics and optimize query performance to reduce platform processing cycle-times.
Maintain scalable templates and automated data pipelines that sustain operational efficiency and data quality.

Who you will be working with:
Commercial Leadership and Category Teams: Partner with Commercial leaders, Category Management, and Category Planning to define reporting requirements, advise on data interpretation, and support business-critical planning tools.
Financial and Operational Partners: Collaborate with Finance teams to align financial data structures, reporting metrics, and commercial performance inputs.
Technology and Data Teams: Coordinate closely with Technology and Data partners to resolve system defects, conduct user acceptance testing, manage data pipelines, and deliver system enhancements.
External Platform and Vendor Partners: Work alongside external software, reporting, and implementation partners (including STIBO/PIM, SAP, and Snowflake) on technical integration and support

Qualifications and work experience:
Essential:
Education: Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Systems, Data, Analytics, Business, Commerce or a related discipline (or equivalent practical merchandise reporting experience).
Experience: 35+ years of experience in reporting, analytics, business systems, or merchandise planning support within a corporate setting.
Domain Knowledge: Strong knowledge of merchandise reporting, data structures, category metrics, and retail system workflows.
Technical Mastery: Advanced Excel capabilities, including complex data analysis, formula modelling, and data visualisation skills.
Querying and Extraction: Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and querying, with working knowledge of Python for data analysis and automation.
Solution Maintenance: Practical experience maintaining and improving business-critical reporting solutions and Excel-based planning tools.
Governance and Support: Working knowledge of data quality, controls, testing methodologies, requirements gathering, and system support.
Systems: Familiarity with enterprise data platforms and merchandise systems including SAP, Snowflake, and STIBO/PIM platform.

Preferred:
SQL, Python, or relevant business intelligence and analytics platform training or certifications.
Hands-on experience with Snowflake cloud data platform, SAP ERP/S4HANA, or STIBO/PIM software architectures.
Prior experience within omnichannel retail, consumer goods, or fast-paced commercial trading environments
