CNC Operator – Roles & Responsibilities

- Operate and monitor CNC machines such as CNC Turning, CNC Lathe, VMC, HMC and CNC machining centres.
- Perform machine setting, tool setting, job loading/unloading and machine operation as per production requirements.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, component drawings, work instructions and process sheets.
- Conduct in-process inspection and dimensional checking using Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, Thread Gauge, Plug Gauge and other measuring instruments.
- Monitor cutting tools, inserts, tool life, tool wear and tool offsets and replace tools when required.
- Perform basic offset correction, tool offset adjustment and parameter setting to maintain component dimensions.
- Operate CNC machines as per SOP, process parameters, cycle time and quality standards.
- Identify and report machine abnormalities, tool wear, dimensional deviations and quality issues to the supervisor/engineer.
- Maintain required production quantity, cycle time, rejection and productivity targets.
- Perform first-piece inspection,



in-process inspection and final inspection as required.
- Follow 5S, Kaizen, TPM, safety procedures and standard operating practices on the shop floor.
- Maintain machine cleanliness and ensure proper handling of tools, fixtures, gauges and components.
- Support tool change, fixture change, setup changeover and machine changeover activities.
- Assist in troubleshooting basic machine and process-related problems.
- Maintain production records, inspection reports, rejection records and other required documentation.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance and Tool Room teams for smooth production.
- Ensure proper identification and traceability of raw materials, WIP and finished components.
- Follow PPE, safety standards and workplace safety procedures at all times.
- Work effectively in shift-based production / rotational shifts and meet daily production targets.
- Support continuous improvement activities related to productivity, quality, cycle time, tool consumption and rejection reduction.
