JOB DESCRIPTION – MEP SITE ENGINEER

Position: MEP Site Engineer

Department: Projects / MEP

Location: Project Site

Reporting To: Project Manager / Project In-Charge

Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are looking for a competent and experienced MEP Site Engineer to supervise and coordinate the execution of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing works at project sites. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that MEP works are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, safety requirements and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

1. Site Execution

- Supervise day-to-day execution of MEP works at the project site.
- Ensure installation is carried out as per approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Coordinate installation of Plumbing, Fire Fighting, HVAC, Electrical and other MEP services as applicable.
- Monitor manpower, materials, tools and equipment required for site execution.
- Ensure proper sequencing and timely completion of MEP activities.

2. Drawing & Technical Coordination

- Study and understand MEP drawings, layouts, specifications and BOQs.
- Coordinate with consultants, architects, civil teams and other contractors for MEP requirements.
- Identify discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions and report them to the Project Manager.
- Ensure proper coordination of MEP services with civil, structural and architectural works.

3. Quality Control

- Ensure MEP installations comply with approved drawings, specifications and applicable standards.
- Inspect materials received at site and ensure they conform to approved specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections of installation and workmanship.
- Prepare and maintain inspection requests, checklists and quality records.
- Rectify defects and ensure timely closure of observations.

4. Project Progress & Reporting

- Monitor daily and weekly progress of MEP works against the project schedule.
- Prepare Daily Progress Reports (DPR) and other site reports.
- Maintain records of work completed, manpower deployed and materials consumed.
- Highlight delays, technical issues and resource requirements to the Project Manager.




- Assist in preparing project progress updates for management/client review.

5. Manpower & Contractor Management

- Supervise technicians, plumbers, electricians, helpers and subcontractor manpower.
- Allocate work to site teams according to priorities and project requirements.
- Monitor productivity and workmanship of subcontractors.
- Coordinate with MEP contractors and vendors for timely execution.
- Ensure adequate manpower is available to meet project targets.

6. Material Management

- Prepare material requirements based on site progress and upcoming activities.
- Coordinate with procurement/stores for timely availability of materials.
- Check material quantity and specifications at the time of receipt.
- Monitor material consumption and minimize wastage.
- Maintain proper records of material issued and utilized at site.

7. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure all MEP activities are carried out in accordance with site safety procedures.
- Coordinate with the Safety Officer regarding safe working practices.
- Ensure workers use appropriate PPE and follow safety instructions.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents and near misses immediately.
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory and project safety requirements.

8. Testing, Commissioning & Handover

- Coordinate testing and commissioning of MEP installations.
- Assist in pressure testing, flushing, inspection and functional testing as applicable.
- Coordinate with consultants/client representatives during inspections.
- Prepare and close punch-list/snags.
- Assist in preparation of as-built drawings, test reports and handover documentation.

Key Performance Areas (KPA)

- Timely completion of MEP works.
- Quality of installation and workmanship.
- Effective manpower utilization.

- Compliance with approved drawings and specifications.

- Timely submission of DPR and project documentation.
- Effective coordination with client, consultant, contractors and internal teams.

Required Qualifications

- Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or related Engineering discipline.
- Relevant experience in MEP projects, preferably in Plumbing / Fire Fighting / HVAC / Electrical works.
- Good knowledge of MEP drawings, BOQ and site execution.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple teams at project sites.

Experience

Preferred Experience: 3–4 years in MEP / Building Services / Plumbing / Fire Fighting / HVAC / Electrical projects.

Freshers: May be considered for suitable trainee/junior positions based on technical knowledge and project requirements.
