Role OverviewWe are looking for an experienced Purchase Manager to manage the end-to-end procurement function for our manufacturing operations. The candidate should have strong experience in sourcing raw materials, packaging materials, engineering items, consumables, and other factory requirements.

The role requires strong commercial negotiation skills, vendor development capability, inventory planning, and close coordination with production, stores, quality, accounts, and management.

Candidates with prior experience working in a manufacturing environment are strongly preferred.

- Key ResponsibilitiesManage complete procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, consumables, engineering items, machinery spares, and factory supplies.
- Develop and maintain a reliable vendor base for critical materials.
- Identify new suppliers and obtain competitive quotations from multiple vendors.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, credit periods, delivery schedules, freight, and commercial terms.
- Prepare comparative statements and recommend suppliers based on price, quality, reliability, and delivery capability.
- Issue and monitor Purchase Orders and ensure materials are delivered as per committed timelines.
- Coordinate closely with the Production and Stores teams to understand material requirements and avoid production stoppages.
- Maintain minimum and maximum inventory levels for key raw materials.
- Monitor consumption patterns and prepare procurement plans based on production schedules.
- Follow up aggressively with suppliers for timely dispatch and delivery.
- Ensure purchases meet required quality specifications and approved standards.
- Coordinate with the Quality team for rejection, replacement, or quality issues with suppliers.




- Monitor market prices of major raw materials and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Negotiate annual or long-term supply contracts wherever commercially beneficial.
- Reduce procurement costs without compromising material quality or supply reliability.
- Track pending Purchase Orders, material in transit, supplier lead times, and outstanding requirements.
- Coordinate with Accounts for supplier payments, debit notes, advances, and reconciliation.
- Maintain complete procurement documentation and vendor records.
- Evaluate vendor performance periodically based on price, quality, delivery, responsiveness, and reliability.
- Develop alternate vendors for critical materials to minimize supply-chain risk.
- Work with management on strategic sourcing and cost-saving initiatives.
- Maintain purchase MIS and provide regular reports on procurement value, savings, pending orders, inventory, and vendor performance.
- Candidate RequirementsMinimum 5 years of procurement/purchase experience in a manufacturing company.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing procurement and factory operations.
- Experience handling raw materials and production-related purchases.
- Strong supplier negotiation and vendor-development skills.
- Good understanding of inventory management, lead times, safety stock, and production planning.
- Ability to compare quotations and evaluate the total landed cost of materials.
- Positive understanding of GST, purchase documentation, freight, and basic commercial terms.
- Strong follow-up and coordination skills.
- Comfortable working with Excel, ERP/Tally, and inventory or purchase-management systems.
- Strong analytical and commercial mindset.
- Ability to handle multiple suppliers and procurement requirements simultaneously.
