Speech Therapist – Full-Time / Part-Time

Reports To

Consultant / Rehabilitation Department Head / Hospital Administrator

Job Summary

The Speech Therapist will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and providing therapy for patients with speech, language, communication, voice, and swallowing difficulties. The therapist will work closely with doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.

Key Responsibilities

1. Patient Assessment

- Conduct detailed speech, language, communication, voice, and swallowing assessments.
- Identify the patient's specific communication or swallowing difficulties.
- Review medical history and relevant clinical reports before therapy.

2. Speech & Language Therapy

- Develop individualized therapy plans based on patient needs.
- Provide therapy for speech and language disorders, including:
- Speech delay and disorders
- Language difficulties
- Articulation and pronunciation problems
- Aphasia
- Dysarthria
- Fluency/stammering disorders
- Voice disorders

3. Swallowing & Feeding Therapy

- Assess and provide therapy for patients with swallowing difficulties, where within the therapist's scope of practice.
- Support patients with appropriate swallowing and feeding strategies.
- Coordinate with doctors and dietitians for patients requiring specialized care.

4. Patient & Family Counseling

- Explain the patient's condition and therapy plan to patients and their family members in simple language.
- Educate caregivers regarding exercises and techniques that can be continued at home.
- Provide guidance regarding realistic therapy goals and progress.

5. Multidisciplinary Coordination

- Coordinate with consultants, nursing staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists,



and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary discussions when required.
- Refer patients to the appropriate specialist when additional evaluation is required.

6. Documentation

- Maintain accurate patient assessment and therapy records.
- Document treatment plans, therapy sessions, progress, and follow-up recommendations.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.

7. Follow-up & Progress Monitoring

- Regularly evaluate patient progress.
- Modify therapy plans based on clinical response and patient needs.
- Schedule follow-up sessions as required.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology / Speech & Hearing (BASLP / MASLP) from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration/certification as applicable under relevant professional requirements.

Experience

- Freshers and experienced candidates may be considered.
- Experience in a hospital, rehabilitation centre, pediatric clinic, ENT department, neurology, ICU, or similar healthcare setting will be an advantage.

Candidates who are patient-focused, compassionate, clinically competent, and willing to work collaboratively with doctors and other healthcare professionals are preferred.

Pay: ₹204,000.00 - ₹300,000.00 per year
