DEKO is looking for a Project Engineer with 3+ years of experience in glass partition and aluminium works worked on commercials projects to join our Projects team in Chennai (Ready to travel PAN India)

JOB DESCRIPTION
Project Engineer Interior Glass & Aluminium Partition Works
Location: Chennai
Department: Projects
Reporting To: Project Manager / DGM Projects
Employment Type: Full-time

1. Job Purpose
We are looking for a Project Engineer to manage and execute interior glass partition and related works at project sites in Chennai The candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are executed safely, within the planned schedule and budget, while maintaining required quality standards and client satisfaction.
The role requires solid site execution capability, technical understanding of glass partitions, aluminium profiles, doors, DG systems and related interior works, along with good coordination and communication skills.

2. Key Responsibilities
A. Project Execution
* Plan and supervise day-to-day site execution activities.
* Ensure work is executed as per approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
* Monitor installation of:
* Single and double-glazed glass partitions
* Aluminium framed partitions
* Glass doors and DG doors
* Solid shutters
* Honeycomb shutters
* Stile doors and related systems
* Check site dimensions, levels, alignment, plumb and finishing.
* Coordinate with the Project Manager for daily and weekly execution plans.
* Ensure work fronts are available as per project programme.
B. Drawing & Technical Coordination
* Study and understand architectural/shop drawings.
* Coordinate with the design/drawing team for technical clarifications.
* Identify discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions.
* Prepare site measurements and coordinate for material requirements.
* Ensure latest approved drawings are available at site.
* Raise RFIs/technical queries whenever required.

C. Manpower & Subcontractor Management
* Plan daily manpower requirements based on project priorities.
* Supervise site supervisors, installers and subcontractors.
* Allocate manpower according to work fronts.
* Monitor productivity and workmanship.
* Coordinate with other agencies to avoid work-front clashes.
* Maintain discipline and productivity at site.
D. Material Management
* Prepare material requirements based on drawings and site progress.
* Coordinate with stores and procurement for timely material availability.
* Check incoming materials against specifications and approved samples.
* Monitor material consumption and wastage.
* Ensure proper storage and protection of glass,



aluminium profiles, hardware and finished products.

E. Quality Control
* Ensure installation is carried out according to approved quality standards.
* Conduct regular quality inspections.
* Check:
* Glass thickness and specifications
* Aluminium profile installation
* Joint and sealant quality
* Door alignment and operation
* Hardware installation
* Glass-to-glass and glass-to-profile joints
* Acoustic/visual sealing requirements where applicable
* Final finishing
* Coordinate inspections with the client/consultant.
* Close NCRs, observations and punch points within the agreed timeline.

F. Safety
* Ensure all site activities comply with project HSE requirements.
* Conduct/participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings.
* Ensure workers use appropriate PPE.
* Identify unsafe conditions and immediately take corrective action.
* Ensure safe handling, movement and installation of glass.
* Coordinate with the site safety team for work permits and safe working procedures.

G. Planning & Progress Monitoring
* Prepare daily and weekly work plans.
* Track actual progress against the project programme.
* Submit Daily Progress Reports (DPR).
* Highlight delays, constraints and critical activities to the Project Manager.
* Maintain manpower and productivity records.
* Support preparation of project schedules and recovery plans.

H. Client & Consultant Coordination
* Coordinate with client representatives, consultants, PMC and other contractors.
* Attend site meetings when required.
* Explain technical/site requirements professionally.
* Resolve routine site issues in coordination with the Project Manager.
* Maintain good working relationships with clients and other agencies.

I. Measurement & Billing Support
* Take site measurements accurately.
* Maintain measurement records.
* Support preparation of RA bills and subcontractor bills.
* Verify quantities executed at site.
* Track variations and additional works.
* Maintain proper documentation for billing and project closure.

J. Project Documentation
Maintain:
* DPR/WPR
* Site measurement sheets
* Material reconciliation
* Inspection requests
* RFI/technical queries
* NCR and punch-point closure
* Manpower reports
* Material requirement statements




* Drawing registers
* Site photographs
* Client/consultant approvals
* Handover and completion documents

3. Required Technical Skills
The candidate should have a good understanding of:
* Interior glass partition systems
* Single & double glazing systems
* Toughened glass and laminated glass
* Aluminium profiles and framing systems
* Glass doors and DG doors
* Door hardware and accessories
* Silicone/sealant applications
* Acoustic requirements for partitions
* Basic AutoCAD drawing reading
* Site measurement and quantity calculation
* Construction/project planning
* Quality inspection procedures
* Basic safety requirements

4. Qualification
Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
Preferably 3 to 6 years of experience in interior fit-out, glass partition, aluminium works, commercial interiors or similar construction projects.

Candidates with direct experience in glass partition and aluminium door systems will be preferred.

The ideal candidate should be technically strong, disciplined, proactive and capable of taking ownership of site activities, while escalating major technical, commercial or client-related issues to the Project Manager/DGM / Project head
