Job Description Platform Engineering Lead

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineering Lead to lead the design, development, modernization, and operation of scalable cloud platforms and microservices-based applications. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise across Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, microservices, Kubernetes, DevOps, and cloud-native engineering.

Experience in the Healthcare domain is highly desirable, particularly in environments involving healthcare applications, data, security, compliance, and integration.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the architecture, design, development, and modernization of enterprise cloud platforms.
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available platforms across GCP and AWS.
- Lead the migration and modernization of legacy applications into cloud-native and microservices-based architectures.
- Define and implement platform engineering standards, frameworks, reusable components, and best practices.
- Provide technical leadership for microservices, APIs, containers, Kubernetes, service mesh, and event-driven architectures.
- Drive DevOps and CI/CD automation across application and infrastructure platforms.
- Work closely with application, security, infrastructure, architecture, and product teams to deliver enterprise solutions.
- Establish platform observability covering logging, monitoring, tracing, alerting, performance, and reliability.
- Drive Infrastructure as Code using technologies such as Terraform.
- Ensure platforms meet enterprise requirements for security, scalability, availability, performance, and disaster recovery.
- Lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, design decisions, and engineering best-practice adoption.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical direction to platform and cloud engineering teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing platforms through upgrade, modernization, automation, and technology refresh initiatives.




- Stay current with emerging cloud-native technologies and continuously recommend improvements to the platform ecosystem.

Cloud – Required

- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS.
- Experience with cloud networking, IAM, compute, storage, databases, security, and managed services.
- Experience designing solutions across multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud environments.

Microservices & Application Modernization

- Strong understanding of microservices architecture and design patterns.
- Experience breaking down monolithic applications into microservices.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, API gateways, messaging, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems.
- Experience with application modernization, technology upgrades, and cloud migration.
- Understanding of scalability, resiliency, fault tolerance, and performance engineering.

Containers & Platform Engineering

- Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Kubernetes platforms such as GKE and EKS.
- Knowledge of Helm, service mesh, ingress, secrets management, and container security.
- Experience building reusable internal developer platforms and engineering frameworks.

DevOps & Automation

- Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience with tools such as GitHub/GitLab/Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent.
- Strong Infrastructure-as-Code and automation experience.
- Experience implementing automated testing, deployment, security scanning, and release management.

Observability & Reliability

- Experience with enterprise monitoring and observability platforms.
- Knowledge of metrics, logs, distributed tracing, alerting, SRE practices, SLIs/SLOs, and incident management.




- Experience improving platform reliability, performance, and availability.

Healthcare Domain – Preferred

- Healthcare applications and platforms.
- Healthcare data and integration.
- HL7, FHIR, APIs, and healthcare interoperability.
- Healthcare security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
- Experience working with regulated healthcare environments.

Leadership & Soft Skills

- Strong technical leadership and architectural decision-making skills.

- Ability to work with senior technology leaders, architects, developers, infrastructure, security, and business teams.

Education & Experience

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software/platform/cloud engineering, with significant experience in technical leadership.
- Strong experience in GCP and AWS.
- Proven experience delivering microservices and cloud modernization programs.
- Experience leading engineering teams or large-scale technical initiatives.

Preferred Certifications

- Google Professional Cloud Architect / Skilled Cloud DevOps Engineer.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect / DevOps Engineer.
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or equivalent.
- Terraform Associate or equivalent Infrastructure-as-Code certification.

Success in This Role

The Platform Engineering Lead will be expected to modernize and continuously improve the platform, establish strong cloud and microservices engineering practices, improve automation and reliability, and provide technical leadership across GCP, AWS, and enterprise application modernization initiatives.
