- Receive and verify patient samples from collection centres, home collection, and internal departments.
- Check patient details, sample type, quantity, labeling, and requisition forms before accessioning.
- Enter patient and sample information accurately into the LIS/HRMS or relevant laboratory system.
- Generate accession numbers/barcodes and ensure proper sample labeling.
- Identify and document rejected, insufficient, mislabeled, or compromised samples as per SOP.
- Ensure samples are sorted and routed to the appropriate laboratory sections.
- Coordinate with phlebotomists, collection centres, couriers, and laboratory departments regarding sample discrepancies.
- Maintain proper records of received, rejected, pending, and dispatched samples.
- Ensure timely processing and movement of samples to avoid delays in reporting.
- Follow laboratory SOPs, quality standards, infection-control practices, and safety protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory records.
- Escalate critical discrepancies or operational issues to the concerned supervisor.
- Support internal audits and quality-control activities when required.
