Consultant Radiologist is a senior medical specialist responsible for providing expert diagnostic imaging services and clinical leadership within a hospital. The role involves interpreting complex imaging studies, advising clinical teams, and contributing to patient management, service development, teaching, and research.
- Interpret and report on a wide range of imaging studies, including X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy
- Provide expert consultation to referring clinicians and multidisciplinary teams
- Perform and supervise image-guided diagnostic and interventional procedures, where applicable
- Ensure high standards of patient safety, imaging quality, and clinical governance
- Lead and participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings
- Supervise, mentor, and train junior doctors, radiology trainees,
and radiographers
- Contribute to audit, research, and continuous service improvement
- Participate in on-call and emergency radiology services as required
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records
Teaching & Training
- Participate in educational activities for radiology and nursing staff
- Support continuous career development within the Radiology department
Research & Professional Development
- Engage in clinical research and registry data collection
- Stay updated with advances in interventional radiology techniques and devices
