Role & responsibilities The Paediatrician is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to infants, children, and adolescents. This role includes diagnosis and treatment of childhood illnesses, preventive healthcare, growth and development monitoring, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality paediatrics care.

Clinical Responsibilities

- Examine, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic paediatric conditions
- Monitor growth, development, and nutritional status of children
- Provide current-born and neonatal care (as applicable)
- Manage paediatrics emergencies and critical cases
- Prescribe medications and treatments safely and effectively
- Conduct inpatient ward rounds and outpatient consultations

Preventive & Family-Centred Care
- Provide immunizations according to national schedules
- Educate parents and caregivers on child health, nutrition, and disease prevention




- Counsel families on developmental milestones and health concerns

Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with nurses, specialists, and allied health professionals
- Refer patients to sub-specialists when required
- Communicate clearly with parents/guardians about diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis

Quality & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records
- Follow hospital policies, clinical protocols, and ethical standards
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives

Academic & Administrative Duties
- Participate in departmental meetings and continuing medical education (CME)
- Supervise and guide junior doctors or residents (if applicable)
