About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Studio Engineer – Exterior Engineering to join our Automotive Design Studio team at HMIE, Hyderabad.
This role serves as a critical bridge between Styling and Engineering, transforming creative design concepts into technically feasible and production-ready exterior vehicle solutions while preserving the intended design vision. Working closely with Studio Designers and cross-functional engineering teams, the Senior Studio Engineer will lead package integration, feasibility assessments, regulatory compliance activities, and manufacturing readiness evaluations to ensure the successful delivery of world-class exterior systems that meet design, quality, cost, timing, and performance targets.

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 10 years of experience in automotive exterior engineering, preferably within an OEM Design Studio, Automotive Design Centre, or vehicle product development environment.
Strong hands-on experience in:
Exterior body systems engineering
Package engineering
Class-A surface feasibility evaluation
Design release and implementation activities
Proven experience collaborating directly with Automotive Design Studio teams and translating styling concepts into robust engineering solutions while maintaining design intent.
Strong knowledge of global automotive regulations and homologation requirements, including AIS/CMVR, ECE, and FMVSS, with expertise in:
Lighting systems
Mirrors and visibility requirements
Pedestrian protection




Exterior projections
Vehicle exterior safety compliance
Positive understanding of:
Closures integration
Body structure interfaces
Press tooling requirements
Sheet metal stamping feasibility
Associated manufacturing processes
Proficiency in CAD and digital engineering tools such as CATIA V5/V6 or equivalent.
Good understanding of materials and manufacturing technologies, including:
Injection moulding
Sheet metal stamping
Blow moulding
Composite manufacturing
Assembly and joining processes
Strong technical problem-solving, communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working on global vehicle development programs and collaborating with overseas Design and Engineering Centres.
Knowledge of pedestrian protection development, validation processes, and regulatory requirements.
Understanding of vehicle aerodynamics, aerodynamic component development, and airflow management strategies.
Experience in automotive lighting systems development and related regulatory compliance requirements.
Previous experience with an Indian OEM, Global OEM, or Automotive Design Studio environment will be highly preferred.
