Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinary doctors and surgeons during consultations, treatments and procedures.
- Prepare the operating theatre, instruments, equipment and required materials before surgeries.
- Assist the veterinary team during surgical procedures as instructed.
- Ensure proper cleaning, sterilization and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Prepare animals/patients for surgery and assist with pre-operative and post-operative care.
- Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations, treatments and procedures.
- Assist with administration of medicines and treatments under the direction of the veterinary surgeon/authorized clinical qualified.
- Maintain proper records of medicines, procedures, treatments and patient observations.
- Monitor patients before and after procedures and promptly report any abnormalities to the veterinary team.
- Maintain cleanliness,
hygiene and infection-control standards in the clinical and operating areas.
- Ensure required medicines, consumables and clinical supplies are available and properly stored.
- Assist with routine wound care, dressing and other clinical support activities as directed.
- Follow all clinical, safety and hygiene protocols.
- Support emergency and night-shift clinical requirements when assigned.
Required Skills
- 1–2 years of relevant clinical experience in a veterinary clinic/hospital.
- Practical experience in operating theatre (OT) handling and preparation.
- Knowledge of pre-operative and post-operative procedures.
- Knowledge of medicines and their safe handling/storage.
- Ability to assist during surgical procedures.
- Basic understanding of animal handling and restraint.
- Knowledge of cleaning, sterilization and infection-control procedures.
- Good observation and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions from veterinary surgeons and technicians.
- Physically fit and comfortable working in a clinical environment.
- Willingness to work night shifts when required.
- Knowledge of Hindi and Marathi required.
