Job Summary

We are looking for experienced Tool Room Engineers to manage tool, die, fixture, and jig-related activities for automotive component manufacturing. The candidate will be responsible for tool maintenance, breakdown rectification, tool development, modifications, and ensuring availability of production tools.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day tool room activities and ensure timely availability of tools for production.
- Maintain and service dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, cutting tools, and special tools.
- Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance of production tools and dies.
- Troubleshoot tool-related problems and implement corrective actions.
- Support new tool, die, jig, and fixture development activities.
- Coordinate with production and quality teams for tool-related issues.
- Carry out tool modification, correction, reconditioning, and improvement activities.
- Monitor tool life and maintain proper tool history and maintenance records.
- Plan and maintain tool maintenance schedules.
- Ensure proper storage, identification, and traceability of tools and dies.
- Support CNC machining, grinding, turning, milling, drilling, and other tool-room operations.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, tool drawings, and component drawings.
- Work with external tool vendors for tool manufacturing, repair, modification, and development.
- Identify recurring tool failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Maintain adequate inventory of tool room spares, inserts, consumables, and standard components.




- Support new product development and APQP activities related to tooling.
- Ensure tools and fixtures meet required dimensional and quality specifications.
- Follow 5S, TPM, safety procedures, and continuous improvement practices.
- Support internal and customer audits related to tooling and process requirements.

Required Technical Skills
- Good knowledge of press tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and cutting tools.
- Experience in tool maintenance and tool modification.
- Knowledge of CNC turning, milling, grinding, drilling, and machining processes.
- Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T;.
- Knowledge of tool materials, cutting tools, inserts, and tool life management.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD / CAD software will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance and tool-room documentation.
- Robust troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Qualification & Experience
- ITI / Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical, Tool & Die, Production Engineering, or related discipline.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in a tool room / tooling environment.
- Experience in automotive component manufacturing will be preferred.
- Candidates with hands-on experience in dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and CNC tooling will be preferred.
