TGT Social Science Teacher – Job Description

Job Title: Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) – Social Science

Role: Teach Social Science to students, generally in Classes VI–X, following the prescribed school curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver effective Social Science lessons.
Teach subjects/topics including History, Geography, Civics/Political Science, Economics, and related social studies as prescribed by the curriculum.
Prepare lesson plans, teaching aids, worksheets, assignments, projects, and learning activities.
Explain historical events, geographical concepts, government systems, economic principles, and social issues in an age-appropriate manner.
Encourage critical thinking, analytical skills, discussion, and awareness of society and current affairs.
Conduct classroom activities, group discussions, debates, presentations, and project work.
Prepare and conduct tests, quizzes, assignments, and examinations.
Evaluate students' performance and maintain academic records.
Provide remedial and additional support to students who need it.
Maintain classroom discipline and create an inclusive and supportive learning workplace.
Monitor attendance and student progress.




Communicate academic progress and concerns to parents/guardians.
Participate in staff meetings, school functions, examinations, training programs, and other assigned duties.
Use appropriate digital tools, maps, charts, presentations, and educational resources to improve learning.

Typical Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with the required Social Science subject/subject combination.
B.Ed. or equivalent teacher-training qualification, where required.
CTET/TET qualification where applicable to the recruiting organization.
Knowledge of the relevant school curriculum and teaching methodology.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per hour
