Role Overview The Student Counsellor will be responsible for supporting the emotional, social, behavioural, and academic well-being of students. The role involves working closely with students, parents, teachers, and school leadership to identify concerns early, provide guidance and intervention, and help build a protected, supportive, and inclusive school environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Student Support & Counselling

- Provide one-on-one and group counselling to students on emotional, social, behavioural, and personal concerns.
- Identify students who may be struggling academically, socially, or emotionally, and design appropriate support plans.
- Support students through difficult transitions, peer conflicts, anxiety, exam stress, and other age-appropriate challenges.
- Maintain a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where students feel comfortable seeking help.

Behavioural & Well-Being Management

- Observe and assess student behaviour patterns, and recommend strategies to teachers and parents for handling specific concerns.
- Conduct sessions and activities on life skills, emotional regulation, resilience, and positive peer relationships.




- Support the school in preventing and addressing bullying, discrimination, and other behavioural issues.
- Refer students to external specialists (psychologists, therapists, medical professionals) where required, in coordination with parents and the Principal.

Collaboration with Teachers & Parents

- Work closely with Class Teachers to understand classroom dynamics and flag students who may need additional support.
- Conduct periodic meetings/workshops with parents to guide them on their child's emotional and behavioural development.
- Assist teachers in developing inclusive classroom practices for students with diverse learning and emotional needs.
- Coordinate with the Special Educator (if applicable) for students requiring individualised academic or behavioural plans.

Academic & Career Guidance

- Guide students on study habits, time management, and coping strategies to manage academic pressure.
- Support senior students with stream selection, career awareness, and higher education guidance where required.
- Assist in the administration and interpretation of aptitude, interest, or psychometric assessments, where applicable.

Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain accurate, confidential records of counselling sessions, interventions, and follow-ups.
- Prepare periodic reports for the Principal on key trends, concerns, and recommended school-wide interventions.




- Ensure all documentation complies with confidentiality standards and school policy.

Programmes & Awareness Initiatives

- Plan and conduct awareness sessions/workshops for students on topics such as mental health, substance abuse prevention, internet safety, and healthy relationships.
- Support the Principal and school leadership in crisis intervention and emergency response involving student well-being.
- Contribute to school policies related to student welfare, discipline, and inclusive education.

Eligibility

- Master's degree in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a related field.
- Relevant certification/diploma in School Counselling is preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Counsellor, preferably in a school or CBSE-affiliated institution.
- Sound understanding of child and adolescent development, and age-appropriate counselling approaches.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with students, parents, and staff.
- High degree of empathy, patience, and emotional maturity.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Good observation and assessment skills to identify concerns early.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations calmly and collaboratively with school leadership.
- Working knowledge of MS Office/basic documentation tools, AI, ERP system for maintaining records and reports.

Work Schedule & Details

Days: Monday to Saturday

Location: Tapovan Vidya Vihar, Plot no. 363, nr. Rajwadu Hotel, opp. Lavanya Sanskrutik Hall, Lavanya Society, Vasna, Ahmedabad, Gujarat 380051

Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
