About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer specializing in Ruby to join our client's dynamic team on a full time basis. This remote position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere, making it ideal for professionals seeking a balanced and flexible work environment. The role focuses on evaluating and validating large language models (LLMs) within the context of software engineering, specifically targeting the development of evaluation datasets and repository validation processes.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with AI researchers and contribute to cutting-edge projects that aim to improve the interaction between AI models and real-world codebases.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong proficiency in Ruby and Ruby on Rails. Demonstrated expertise in version control systems such as Git, containerization tools like Docker, and experience setting up reproducible software testing pipelines are essential. Candidates should have the ability to navigate complex, real-world codebases, understanding their structure and logic, and be capable of modifying and executing code locally for testing purposes.

Familiarity with Ruby testing frameworks such as RSpec or Minitest, gem management tools like Bundler, and code quality assessment tools is required.



Prior contributions to open-source projects or experience evaluating open-source repositories will be considered advantageous.

Responsibilities

- Analyze and triage issues on GitHub across trending open-source libraries to identify suitable evaluation scenarios for LLM testing.
- Set up and configure code repositories, including creating Docker containers and preparing environments to ensure reproducible testing conditions.
- Assess unit test coverage and analyze code quality metrics to establish baseline health and robustness of codebases.
- Modify, run, and debug Ruby codebases locally to evaluate the performance of LLMs in bug-fixing and code-completion tasks.
- Collaborate with AI researchers and data scientists to design challenging repositories and issues that effectively test LLM capabilities.
- Document findings, contribute to the development of evaluation methodologies, and continuously improve testing frameworks.
