About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer specializing in Ruby to join our client's energetic team on a full-time, remote basis. The successful candidate will work on cutting-edge projects focused on Large Language Model (LLM) evaluation and repository validation, contributing to the development of datasets that simulate real-world software engineering challenges. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the future of AI-driven software development tools by creating verifiable tasks from public repositories, leveraging synthetic methods with human-in-the-loop processes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Ruby development, experience with complex codebases, and a passion for advancing AI research and applications.

Qualifications

- Minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong proficiency in Ruby and Ruby on Rails.




- Hands-on experience with Git for version control, Docker for containerization, and setting up reproducible software pipelines.
- Ability to understand, navigate, and modify complex, real-world codebases locally.
- Familiarity with Ruby testing frameworks such as RSpec and Minitest, as well as gem management tools like Bundler.
- Experience in assessing code quality, including evaluating unit test coverage and robustness metrics.
- Prior contributions to open-source projects or experience evaluating open-source repositories is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including AI researchers and developers.

Responsibilities

- Analyze and triage issues from trending open-source libraries on GitHub to identify suitable evaluation scenarios for LLM testing.
- Set up, configure, and maintain code repositories, including containerizing environments with Docker to ensure reproducibility of tests.
- Assess and improve unit test coverage and code quality metrics to ensure the health and robustness of the codebase.
- Modify, run, and debug Ruby codebases locally to evaluate the performance of LLMs in bug fixing and code completion tasks.




- Collaborate closely with AI researchers to select repositories and issues that present challenging, meaningful cases for LLM evaluation.
- Document processes, findings, and improvements to facilitate ongoing project development and knowledge sharing.
- Stay updated on emerging trends in AI, software engineering, and Ruby development to continuously enhance project outcomes.
