About This Opportunity Job Title: Software Engineer II

Location: Bangalore

Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer II, you will design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and reliable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript. You will apply sound software engineering practices across service design, API development, integration, testing, and deployment, while delivering reusable components that support 7-Eleven's customer, store, and digital commerce experiences.

You will take ownership of backend features from requirements through production, collaborate closely with product, frontend, QA, DevOps, and architecture teams, and contribute to technical decisions that improve maintainability, observability, performance, and developer productivity.



You should be comfortable learning new technologies and supporting the team wherever needed to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Technical Skills Required

- 5+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years building production backend services with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern Node.js, including asynchronous programming, promises, async/await, streams, event handling, and error management.
- Hands-on experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services using frameworks such as NestJS, Express.js, Fastify, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of API design, validation, pagination, versioning, idempotency, rate limiting, authentication, and authorization using JWT, OAuth2, or equivalent mechanisms.
- Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, including schema design, transactions, indexing, query optimization, and data integrity.
- Working knowledge of caching and persistence technologies such as Redis, along with practical approaches to improving latency and service throughput.
- Experience integrating services with asynchronous messaging, queues, or event-driven workflows using Kafka, RabbitMQ, cloud messaging, or equivalent technologies.
- Experience writing automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using Jest, Supertest, or equivalent tools, with a focus on maintainable and testable code.
- Understanding of secure coding practices, input validation, secrets management, OWASP principles, and protection against common API and application vulnerabilities.
- Experience with Git, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, Agile delivery practices, containerized development, and production support.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues using logs, metrics, traces, debuggers, and monitoring tools, and to communicate technical trade-offs clearly.

Preferred Technical Skills

- Experience building cloud-native microservices deployed with Docker and Kubernetes on AWS, Azure, GCP, or equivalent platforms.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and deployment automation using Terraform, Helm, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar tools.
- Experience with distributed systems concepts including resiliency, retries, circuit breakers, eventual consistency, distributed tracing, and graceful degradation.
- Exposure to observability platforms such as Datadog, New Relic,



Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or equivalent solutions.
- Experience designing integrations with third-party APIs, webhooks, background jobs, scheduled processing, backfills, and dead-letter handling.
- Knowledge of domain-driven design, clean architecture, SOLID principles, design patterns, and modular monolith or microservices approaches.
- Experience with GraphQL, WebSockets, gRPC, or other API and real-time communication technologies.
- Familiarity with NoSQL technologies such as DynamoDB, MongoDB, or Cosmos DB and with search platforms such as Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
- Experience mentoring engineers, contributing to coding standards, and participating in architecture reviews or technical communities of practice.
- Background in retail, loyalty, payments, e-commerce, or other high-volume customer-facing systems is a plus.
