Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET I)

About the Role

We're looking for an SDET I to help us build and scale test automation across our product suite. This role is for an engineer first someone who writes clean, maintainable code and is comfortable diving into application internals, not just clicking through UI test tools. You'll work closely with backend, frontend, and QA teams to design automated test frameworks, catch regressions early, and raise the bar on release quality.

What You'll Do

- Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks and suites for web, API, and backend services.
- Write production-quality test code in languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar.
- Own test automation for current features end-to-end from test design to CI integration.
- Debug failing tests and flaky suites down to root cause, including reading and reasoning about application code.
- Build and maintain API test coverage (REST/GraphQL) using tools like Postman, RestAssured, or pytest.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar).
- Collaborate with developers to improve testability of code and identify gaps in coverage.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to test strategy discussions.




- Track and report quality metrics (coverage, defect leakage, flake rate) to the team.

What We're Looking For

- 1-3 years of experience in software testing/QA with a strong coding component, or as a software engineer with a passion for quality.
- Robust programming fundamentals in at least one language (Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar) able to write and refactor real code, not just scripts.
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (Appium, RestAssured, pytest, or equivalents).
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and OOP concepts.
- Working knowledge of REST APIs, HTTP, and basic SQL for data validation.
- Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of testing fundamentals: test design, coverage analysis, regression vs. exploratory testing.
- Strong debugging skills and comfort reading application/source code to isolate issues.
- Good communication skills and ownership mindset.

Nice to Have

- Experience with mobile test automation (Appium, Espresso, XCUITest).
- Prior experience contributing to or building an in-house test framework.
- Basic understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems testing.
