Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Server & System Administrator to manage and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure, including physical/on-premise servers, virtual servers, cloud infrastructure, networks, storage, backups, security, and end-user systems.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, security, and reliability of the company's IT infrastructure and resolving infrastructure issues proactively.

Key Responsibilities

1. Physical / On-Premise Server Management

- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot physical servers.
- Manage server hardware, CPU, RAM, storage, RAID, power supplies, and other components.
- Monitor server health, temperature, disk health, resource utilization, and hardware alerts.
- Manage server rack, cabling, UPS, and basic server-room infrastructure.
- Perform preventive maintenance and coordinate hardware repairs/replacements.
- Maintain server hardware inventory, configurations, warranties, and service records.
- Handle hardware failures and coordinate with OEM/service providers when required.

2. Virtualization & Cloud Infrastructure

- Manage virtual machines and virtualization environments such as VMware, Hyper-V, or equivalent platforms.
- Provision, configure, monitor, and maintain virtual servers.
- Manage cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, where applicable.
- Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, storage, and resource utilization.
- Support application/server deployment and infrastructure configuration.

3. Operating System Administration

- Administer Windows Server and Linux-based systems.
- Perform OS installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting.
- Manage system services, users, permissions, scheduled tasks, and system configurations.
- Monitor system logs and resolve operating-system-level issues.

4. Network Administration

- Configure and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure.
- Manage routers, switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi, VPNs, and network connectivity.
- Manage IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, routing, and network access.
- Troubleshoot network outages and performance issues.
- Maintain network diagrams and infrastructure documentation.

5. Backup & Disaster Recovery





- Configure and monitor regular server, database, application, and data backups.
- Verify backup completion and integrity.
- Maintain appropriate backup retention and storage.
- Perform data restoration and recovery when required.
- Develop and maintain basic disaster recovery procedures.
- Periodically test backup restoration and recovery processes.

6. Storage & Data Management

- Manage server storage, RAID configurations, NAS/SAN or equivalent storage systems.
- Monitor disk capacity, performance, and storage health.
- Plan storage capacity based on business requirements.
- Ensure critical business data is appropriately protected and backed up.

7. Security & Access Management

- Manage user accounts, access permissions, administrator privileges, and authentication.
- Maintain firewall, antivirus/endpoint protection, and other security controls.
- Apply security patches and updates regularly.
- Monitor systems for unauthorized access or suspicious activity.
- Implement appropriate access controls for servers and network resources.
- Maintain basic cybersecurity and infrastructure security practices.

8. Application & Database Infrastructure

- Support deployment and maintenance of business applications on servers.
- Coordinate with developers for application deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Support database server infrastructure and connectivity.
- Monitor application/server availability and performance.
- Maintain development, testing, and production server environments where applicable.

9. End-User IT Support

- Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, network connectivity, and other IT devices.
- Configure systems for new employees and manage IT access during employee onboarding/offboarding.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, and connectivity issues.
- Maintain IT asset records and system documentation.

Monitoring, Documentation & Vendor Coordination

- Monitor server and infrastructure availability and performance.
- Identify and resolve potential issues before they affect business operations.
- Maintain complete documentation of servers, IPs, configurations, credentials/access procedures, backups, and network infrastructure.
- Maintain AMC, warranty, license, and vendor records.
- Coordinate with hardware, networking, cloud, ISP, and other IT vendors.

Required Technical Skills

- Hands-on experience with physical/on-premise server administration.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux.
- Knowledge of VMware / Hyper-V or other virtualization technologies.
- Valuable understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, LAN/WAN, routing, and switching.
- Experience with server hardware, RAID, storage, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with server backup and recovery.
- Knowledge of firewalls and network security.
- Basic knowledge of cloud infrastructure.
- Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in server/system administration.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, Microsoft, Linux, VMware, AWS, or Azure will be an advantage.

Ideal Candidate The candidate should be hands-on, technically strong, proactive, and capable of independently managing both physical and virtual IT infrastructure. The person should be comfortable working directly with server hardware, networking equipment, operating systems, backups, security, and troubleshooting critical infrastructure issues.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
