Senior SAP ABAP Consultant The proposed Senior SAP ABAP Consultant should possess extensive experience in SAP development, technical support, troubleshooting and enhancement of complex SAP environments.

Core ABAP Expertise

- Extensive hands-on experience in ABAP development and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of ABAP Objects (OO ABAP).
- Development and maintenance of Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms and Workflows.
- Strong experience with ALV, Smart Forms, SAPscript and Adobe Forms.
- Development and maintenance of BAPIs, Function Modules, RFCs, User Exits, Customer Exits and BAdIs.
- Strong understanding and maintenance of existing custom Z-programs, Z-tables, Z-functions and Z-enhancements.
- Experience analysing and optimising existing custom developments and legacy ABAP code.

SAP Technical Support

- Strong experience in Production support and incident resolution.
- Ability to investigate complex technical issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Debugging of standard and custom ABAP programs.
- Analysis of short dumps (ST22), system logs (SM21), job failures (SM37), locks (SM12), performance issues and runtime errors.
- Performance analysis and optimisation using tools such as ST05, SAT/SE30 and SQL analysis.
- Troubleshooting issues across SAP application, database and integration layers.
- Experience working within SLA-driven support environments, including priority-based incident management and escalation.

SAP Integration & Interfaces

- Development and support of SAP interfaces and integrations.
- Strong experience with IDocs, RFCs, BAPIs and web services.
- Experience troubleshooting inbound and outbound interfaces.
- Knowledge of REST/SOAP APIs and integration technologies.




- Experience monitoring and resolving interface failures and data inconsistencies.
- Ability to work with functional and technical teams to identify and resolve integration issues.

SAP Enhancements & Change Management

- Development of approved SAP enhancements and custom functionality.
- Experience with Enhancement Framework, BAdIs, enhancement points and implicit/explicit enhancements.
- Ability to analyse business requirements and translate them into technically appropriate SAP solutions.
- Experience preparing technical specifications and development documentation.
- Strong understanding of transport management and controlled movement of changes across Development, QA/UAT and Production environments.
- Experience supporting testing, UAT and Production deployment activities.

Modern SAP Development

- Experience with ABAP 7.4/7.5 syntax and modern ABAP development practices.
- Knowledge of CDS Views and AMDP.
- Experience with OData services and SAP Gateway.
- Exposure to SAP Fiori/UI5 and the technical integration between frontend applications and SAP backend services.
- Knowledge of S/4HANA development principles, including HANA-aware ABAP and code optimisation.
- Understanding of the implications of the S/4HANA data model and simplification principles on existing custom developments.

Database & Performance

- Strong SQL knowledge and understanding of database performance.




- Experience analysing inefficient database access and ABAP performance bottlenecks.
- Ability to optimise Open SQL and custom programs for SAP HANA environments.
- Experience investigating high CPU, memory, database or runtime consumption caused by custom developments.

Development Governance & Quality

- Robust understanding of SAP development standards and best practices.
- Experience conducting code reviews and technical quality assessments.
- Ability to assess the technical impact and risks of proposed changes.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Experience working within formal change management, QA/UAT and Production release procedures.
- Ability to maintain technical documentation for custom developments and interfaces.

Additional Requirements

- Proven experience supporting large and/or complex SAP environments.
- Experience working directly with business users, functional consultants and SAP technical teams.
- Ability to work independently on complex incidents while participating in a wider support and escalation structure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management capabilities.
- Experience working in 24/7 or SLA-based SAP support environments is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in Aviation, Energy, Engineering or other asset-intensive industries would be an advantage.
- Experience working remotely independently would be an advantage.
