Role Overview The Process Engineer will be responsible for the design, engineering, and technical assurance of utility and process systems for offshore wind platform projects, with primary focus on Potable Water, Service Water, Drain Systems, Black/Grey Water Systems, Diesel/Fuel Oil Systems, and Associated Utility Systems. The role involves ensuring compliance with German regulations, DNV standards, IEC requirements, and project-specific specifications throughout the engineering lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs;), Process Design Basis, Control Philosophies, and Cause & Effect Charts.
- Perform hydraulic calculations for water and drainage systems, including pump sizing, tank sizing, pressure loss calculations, and utility consumption estimates.
- Design and engineer:
- Potable Water Systems, Desalination system
- Fresh Water Distribution Systems
- Drain Systems (Hazardous and Non-Hazardous)
- Black Water and Grey Water Systems
- Diesel Storage and Transfer Systems
- Fuel Supply Systems for Emergency Generators
- Prepare equipment datasheets and technical requisitions for pumps, tanks, filters, separators, analyzers, and packaged utility systems.
- Conduct design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, and ALARP studies.
- Interface with package vendors, clients, certification authorities, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Review vendor documents and ensure integration with overall platform design.
- Support construction, commissioning, and offshore installation activities by resolving technical queries and reviewing site modifications.
- Ensure compliance with project requirements, technical standards, and safety regulations.

- German Water Ordinance (TrinkwV)
- German Water Resources Act (WHG)
- NFPA Requirements for fuel storage and fire protection interfaces
- API Standards applicable to tanks and utility systems
Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering.
- Minimum 5-10 years of process engineering experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in Offshore Wind, Offshore Oil & Gas, Marine, or Utility Platform Projects.
- Experience in German offshore wind projects is highly preferred.
- Proven experience in design and engineering of:
- Potable Water Systems
- Drain Systems
- Diesel/Fuel Systems
- Utility Systems on Offshore Platforms
- Familiarity with client requirements of TenneT, Amprion, 50Hertz, TransnetBW, or similar European Transmission System Operators (TSOs) is an advantage.
Desired Skills
- Robust understanding of multidisciplinary offshore engineering.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience with HAZOP, risk assessments, and design reviews.
- Ability to lead technical discussions with clients and certifying agencies.
- Proactive, self-driven, and capable of handling multiple project interfaces in a dynamic offshore wind environment.
Preferred Experience: 7+ years with at least one full-cycle German/dutch offshore wind platform project involving water, drainage, and diesel/fuel systems from FEED through detailed engineering and commissioning.
