About the Role

SolarMaxx is looking for an experienced Senior Manager – Solar Engineering to oversee and assist engineering activities across its solar projects in India. The role will be based in Jaipur and will be responsible for providing technical assistance across Project Engineering, Operations & Maintenance (O&M;), and Design Review/Technical Validation.

The position will not primarily involve hands-on preparation of detailed solar designs. Instead, the incumbent will act as the technical authority responsible for reviewing, validating and approving engineering outputs, ensuring technical feasibility, supporting project execution, improving plant performance and resolving complex engineering issues.

The ideal candidate should have robust experience in solar EPC/project engineering, O&M; and technical review, along with the ability to manage engineering teams, projects, vendors and multiple stakeholders across the region.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Engineering & Technical Support

- Provide technical assistance and engineering support for solar projects across India.
- Review project technical requirements from site assessment through execution and commissioning.
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with approved technical specifications, engineering standards and quality requirements.
- Support project teams in resolving complex technical and engineering issues.
- Review technical specifications, BOQs/BOMs, equipment selection and project documentation.
- Ensure proper coordination between Engineering, Projects, Procurement, O&M;, vendors and site teams.

2. Design Review & Technical Validation

- Review and technically validate designs prepared by the design/engineering team or external consultants.
- Review PVsyst reports, SLDs, layouts, electrical designs, equipment sizing, cable sizing, protection schemes and other engineering deliverables.
- Ensure designs are technically feasible, cost-effective and suitable for site execution.
- Identify design gaps, risks and deviations before project execution.
- Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable standards, project specifications and statutory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to the design team without being responsible for routine hands-on design preparation.

3. O&M; Management & Technical Performance





- Provide technical oversight for solar plant Operations & Maintenance activities across India.
- Monitor plant performance, generation, PR, availability, downtime and equipment performance.
- Review preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Support resolution of major breakdowns and recurring technical issues.
- Review plant performance reports and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure effective maintenance practices, safety standards and technical SOPs are followed.
- Coordinate with O&M; teams and external agencies for major technical issues.

4. Technical Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis

- Assist investigation of major technical failures and recurring plant issues.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide technical support during critical equipment failures and project escalations.
- Ensure learnings from one project/site are implemented across other projects where applicable.

5. Engineering Standards & Process Development

- Develop and implement engineering standards, technical checklists and SOPs.
- Establish design review, quality inspection and commissioning standards.
- Develop technical guidelines for project execution and O&M.;
- Continuously improve engineering processes based on project and plant performance data.

6. Technical Evaluation of Vendors & Equipment

- Technically evaluate solar equipment, systems and vendors.
- Review technical offers and specifications from suppliers.
- Support Procurement in technical evaluation and vendor selection.
- Evaluate modules, inverters, transformers, mounting structures, SCADA systems and other major equipment.
- Monitor technical performance of key vendors and contractors.

7. Project Commissioning & Handover

- Provide technical oversight during testing and commissioning of solar projects.
- Review commissioning reports and performance test results.
- Ensure technical punch points are identified and closed.
- Ensure proper project handover from Project/EPC teams to O&M; teams.
- Review as-built drawings, test reports, equipment documentation and warranty records.

8. Technical Audits & Quality Control





- Conduct periodic technical audits of ongoing and operational solar projects.
- Identify quality, design, execution and maintenance gaps.
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented within defined timelines.
- Monitor compliance with engineering and quality standards across projects.

9. Management Reporting

- Prepare and review technical and performance reports for management.
- Provide updates on project engineering, technical risks, O&M; performance and major issues.
- Highlight critical technical risks and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Track engineering KPIs and project/site performance.

Key Skills & Competencies

- Robust knowledge of Solar PV systems and Solar EPC projects.
- Strong experience in Project Engineering and O&M.;
- Positive understanding of solar electrical and mechanical systems.
- Strong ability to review and validate solar designs.
- Knowledge of PVsyst, AutoCAD/SLD and other solar engineering deliverables.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, protection, transformers, inverters and HT/LT systems.
- Knowledge of solar plant performance parameters such as PR, CUF, availability and generation.
- Strong troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis skills.
- Vendor and contractor management skills.
- Robust project coordination and stakeholder management skills.
- Assist, Oversee and team management capabilities.
- Willingness to travel across India as required.

Experience & Qualification

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering / Renewable Energy / related engineering discipline and Masters will be preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in Solar EPC, Project Engineering, O&M; or related solar engineering functions.
- Experience in managing multiple solar projects/sites and engineering teams will be preferred.
- Experience across commercial & industrial (C&I;), rooftop and/or ground-mounted solar projects will be an advantage.
