ABOUT WTF (WITNESS THE FITNESS)

WTF is India's largest fitness ecosystem - 270+ gyms, 11 brands, built over the last 4 years. We are an operator-first company: we build our own gyms, our own equipment, and our own software. Our in-house AI platform (WTF Go) runs voice, WhatsApp, and video agents across the entire network in India, and for clients in the US.

THE ROLE

We are hiring a Senior Manager - Engineering who is BOTH a hands-on builder and a delivery owner.

You will write and review code, own engineering delivery timelines end to end, and work with product to decide WHAT gets built and WHEN. This is not a meeting-only management role. A large part of your week is expected to be in the codebase and in delivery execution, not just in status meetings. If you have not coded in your current job, this role is not for you.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Hands-on engineering: write production code (Node.js, React, Postgres/SQL, REST APIs, cloud), review code, and ship features week on week. You lead from the codebase, not from slide decks.
- Engineering leadership: run a team of engineers - hiring, mentoring, unblocking, and raising the technical bar. Set standards for code quality, reviews, and releases.
- Delivery ownership: build delivery plans, commit to timelines, track progress daily, detect risks early, and make sure releases go out ON TIME. You own the delivery dashboard and the release calendar, not just the standup.




- Product management: work with founders and product on roadmaps - write specs, size the work, prioritize ruthlessly, and say NO when needed. You own outcomes, not just tickets.
- Full-loop ownership: from problem definition to design, build, release, and metrics. We measure what shipped, not what was planned.
- Build for scale: our software runs 270+ gyms and their members across India and the US. Reliability, performance, and cost matter.

NON-NEGOTIABLE MUST-HAVES
- 10+ years of total engineering experience, with at least 3 years leading engineers.
- STARTUP DNA IS MANDATORY: you must have worked at a startup in at least your last 2 jobs. If your recent career is only large enterprises, big services companies, or consulting, do not apply - you will be rejected.
- Hands-on full-stack TODAY: you can read and write production code right now - Node.js/JavaScript, React, SQL databases (Postgres or MySQL), REST APIs, and at least one cloud (AWS/GCP).
- Delivery credibility: you have personally set, tracked, and defended delivery timelines for shipped products. You know how to estimate, de-risk, and communicate slips BEFORE they happen.
- Product thinking: you have worked with product teams, written specs or PRDs,



and made prioritization calls with real trade-offs.
- Chaos comfort: startups change fast; priorities shift weekly. You thrive in that, not just tolerate it.

NICE TO HAVE
- Built or scaled consumer apps (fitness, health, or consumer internet).
- Exposure to AI/ML products, data platforms, or automation.
- Experience at Series A to D stage companies.
- B.Tech/B.E. or an equivalent practical track record.

HOW WE WILL MEASURE YOU (FIRST 12 MONTHS)
- Delivery predictability: committed vs actually shipped, sprint over sprint.
- Release velocity and quality: how often we ship, and how much breaks when we do.
- Team health: hiring bar, retention, and how quickly engineers grow under you.
- Shipped roadmap: the list of things that went LIVE for our members and gyms.

OUR STACK Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, Redis, AWS, Docker, microservices, and an AI layer (voice/WhatsApp/video agents). We build fast, deploy often, and keep the stack boring where it should be boring.
